Materials Manager will oversee the planning, procurement, storage, and distribution of materials required for production. This role is crucial in ensuring that the supply chain operates smoothly and efficiently, meeting production schedules and maintaining optimal inventory levels. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following.
- Follow all processes and procedures associated with the Tyler Union Safety Program. Advise management of any deviations from this program.
- Develop and implement strategies for the procurement of materials.
- Perform daily, weekly, and monthly D365, ShopVue, Demand Solutions, and Warehouse Management administration, troubleshooting, and reporting.
- Resolve problems concerning transportation, logistics systems, purchasing, forecasting, planning, and domestic products.
- Collaborate with other departments to integrate logistics with business systems or processes, such as purchasing, warehousing, forecasting, and production planning.
- Direct inbound or outbound logistics operations, such as transportation or warehouse activities, safety performance, or logistics quality management.
- Maintain metrics, reports, process documentation, and safety and training records.
- Manage inventory levels to ensure timely availability of materials while minimizing excess stock.
- Coordinate with suppliers to ensure timely delivery and quality of materials.
- Monitor and analyze material usage and costs to identify opportunities for cost savings.
- Collaborate with production, engineering, and quality teams to forecast material needs.
- Maintain accurate records of material transactions and inventory levels (pre- and post-production).
- Lead and mentor a team of materials management professionals.
- Direct and coordinate activities of personnel engaged in planning and scheduling direct materials to meet production needs, production planning/scheduling of finished goods forecasting and purchasing processes.
Qualifications
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
- Bachelor's degree in supply chain management, business, or related field. Equivalent related experience may be considered in lieu of degree.
- Proven experience in materials management, procurement, or supply chain roles.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication and negotiation skills.
- Proficiency in inventory management software and ERP systems.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
- Leadership experience and ability to manage a team.
