This dynamic position will play a pivotal role in advancing our department's strategic initiatives, enhancing clinical operations efficiency, and optimizing revenue generation opportunities.
In collaboration with central partners, the incumbent will develop detailed utilization projections and be engaged in all aspects of clinical decision support in the context of provider productivity, clinical business development, clinical margins (school & hospital), external clinical contracts and provider compensation. S/he will oversee the service line profitability reporting and integrate clinical, financial and productivity data for use by service line leaders (Department Chair, CAO, UCD Medical Group, Ambulatory Care Administration, School of Medicine, Medical Staff Administration, Chief Operating Officers, etc.)
The incumbent will be responsible for the measurement and benchmarking of business operations in relation to best business practices for the academic health center industry as well as internal business objectives.

Minimum Qualifications

- Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Healthcare Administration, or related field.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in healthcare business development, clinical operations management, or revenue cycle management, preferably within an academic medical center or healthcare institution
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex data and financial metrics.
- Excellent communication, negotiation, and relationship-building skills.
- Knowledge of healthcare regulatory requirements, reimbursement mechanisms, and industry trends.
- Proven track record of driving business growth, operational excellence, and financial performance improvement.
Preferred Qualifications
- Master's degree preferred.
- Experience in surgical department billing & coding or revenue cycle

The UC Davis Department of Neurological Surgery is home to internationally recognized experts in the treatment of neurosurgical disorders. Recognized by US News and World Reports as the top-ranked hospital in the region , our team of 16 neurosurgeons provide state-of-the-art care for the majority of Northern California (33 counties, 6.5 million lives). We are the destination hospital for patients with brain tumors, aneurysms, stroke, traumatic brain and spinal cord injury, epilepsy and movement disorders, spine disorders, and the entire spectrum of pediatric neurosurgery.
UC Davis Neurological Surgery offers the latest technologies and provides state-of-the art treatment options for patients in our region. Our neurosurgeons are recognized experts in minimally invasive surgery, robotic surgery, endoscopic surgery, laser interstitial thermal therapy, and motion-preserving spine operations. We have many clinical programs with national and international recognition, including Brain Tumor (NCI-designated Cancer Center), Skull Base Disorders (North American Skull Base Society distinction), Trauma (ACS Level 1 Adult and Pediatric), Aneurysm and Stroke (Joint Commission Comprehensive Stroke), Epilepsy (NAEC Level 4), Spine (Comprehensive Spine Center), Pediatric (ACS Level 1 Center), and Movement Disorders (HD Center of Excellence). The department is heavily involved in education and research, with numerous opportunities for patients to participate in cutting-edge clinical trials.
