This role is responsible for providing detailed analytical feedback on payment collections/postings by the Cashiers Office. Responsible and back up for accuracy of Epic Cash Management records to coincide with cash received daily, weekly and monthly reconciliation. Meticulous attention to detail is essential to maintain financial accuracy and compliance in all financial transactions. Analysis reports will be prepared and presented to the Cashiers Office Supervisor, BGS Accountants, and the Health System Cash Management Associate Director.

- High School graduate, GED or equivalent work experience / training
- Cash Handling Experience
- Experience with payment posting cash and/or credit card handling guidelines.
- Demonstrates good verbal and written communication skills; documents and reports clearly and concisely. Conveys instructions, direction and information appropriately.
- Strong Math calculation skills.
- Ability to reason logically, perceives impact on other and to perceive interdependencies between systems, operations and procedures.
- Organization skills to independently prioritize workload and meet deadlines and develop and carry out project assignments in efficient and timely manner and to provide accurate and succinct documentation of activities.
- Works at establishing a good rapport and professional working relationship with all departmental personnel. Readily works with co-workers. Maintains appropriate interdepartmental communication. Demonstrates an ability to express self in all areas of communication (verbal, written, non-verbal); utilizes effective listening and questioning techniques.
- Knowledge of and demonstrated skill with various spreadsheet and software applications including, Microsoft, (advanced Excel required), Word, Epic or similar accounting system.

Department Overview
The hospital cashier's office provides cashiering support to UC Davis Health and sub cashiering stations, Ambulatory clinics Food and Nutation, Parking and Pharmacy. The Hospital Cashiers office is also responsible and accountable for processing the deposits via different depository applications which posts the dollars collected from all UCD Health departments to the General Ledger. Assist customers and patients with billing, insurance questions, and while directing patients to the appropriate departments, as necessary.
Department Specific Job Scope
Responsible for Daily Payment Collection and Deposits:
Process various payments and deposits received through the Cashier's Office, including credit card transactions via Sycurio.
Prepare daily bank deposits. Ensure all bank deposits are picked up on a daily basis.
Responsible for daily, weekly and monthly reconciliation of deposits for the Professional or PFS payments received via Lockbox, Wires, EFT or special/cash deposits.
Uses online Banking System to create/build daily Banking Reports for deposits.
Responsible for overseeing daily reports are accurate and distributed in a timely manner.
Responsible for reporting weekly stats of Lockboxes.
Identifies and reports missing electronic remittance files to the BSS Analyst.
Payment Reconciliation/Analysis and Reporting:
Responsible for reconciling daily cash drawer(s) and complete all required financial reports.
Ensure accurate cash posting and final transaction settlements. Research and resolve any errors.
Investigate and resolve payment/deposit discrepancies (shortages/overages), coordinating corrections with depositors.
Analysis of payment posting and deposit error trends, make recommendations and report back to Supervisor.
Collaborate with BGS Accountants, troubleshoot daily, weekly and monthly variances.
Responsible for running and validating various weekly and monthly department reports.
Review Transact and EPIC Cash Drawers weekly to ensure all departments have submitted their deposits.
Assist with department deposit pickup from various locations within the Health System.
Monitor and validate Lawson payment(s) and bank deposit confirmation emails, update department spreadsheet.
Uphold UCDH Cash Management compliance in all transactions.
Responsible for providing analysis for unposted payments to Payment Posting Supervisors and Accountants.
Works alongside the Accountants during Month-end reconciliation.
Responsible for ensuring Epic Cash Management records are reviewed/ revised.
Monitor research and resolve cash clearing accounts.
Analysis of payment error trends and providing feedback to Supervisors.
Create, build and run various payment posting reports.
Responsible for making recommendations for the BSS team to research duplicates payments on a monthly basis.
Reviews and makes recommendations to resolve miss-applied or lost payments upon request using a variety of sources including batch log, lockbox listing, imaging system, error file report, and cash reconciliation report.
Research all misapplied and missing payments. Post payment or transfer to correct account if payment was misapplied. Provide feedback to the Payment Poster that made the error.
Other Duties:
Provide backup Cashier support and train staff as needed.
Assist patients with billing and account inquiries.
Secure cash, deposits, and credit card devices per security protocols
Participate in team meetings and complete assigned projects efficiently.
Ensure timely and accurate completion of all mandatory annual training modules.
