About the Role: As a Quality Foreman, you will perform various tasks related to overseeing the quality control processes at our coal preparation plant. This role ensures that coal production meets company and industry standards for quality and compliance. The Quality Foreman will monitor sampling, testing, and reporting while coordinating with production teams to optimize efficiency and maintain product consistency. The Quality Foreman will work closely with supervisors and other team members to maintain a safe work environment while adhering to company policies and procedures. Responsibilities:
- Supervise and manage quality control procedures to ensure coal meets specifications.
- Oversee sampling, testing, and analysis of raw and processed coal.
- Work closely with plant operators to adjust processing parameters for optimal product quality.
- Ensure compliance with environmental, safety, and industry regulations.
- Maintain accurate records of coal quality data and generate reports for management.
- Identify and troubleshoot quality-related issues, implementing corrective actions as needed.
- Train and mentor plant personnel on quality control procedures and best practices.
- Coordinate with suppliers, customers, and regulatory agencies as necessary.
- Conduct regular inspections and audits to ensure continuous improvement.
- Other duties that may be assigned by supervisor.
Who You are:
- High school diploma or equivalent (Bachelor's degree in a related field preferred).
- 3+ years of experience in coal preparation, quality control, or a related field.
- Strong knowledge of coal processing, sampling methods, and industry standards.
- Familiarity with regulatory requirements, including MSHA and environmental guidelines.
- Excellent problem-solving, leadership, and communication skills.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, physically demanding environment.
- Proficiency in data analysis and reporting tools.
- Maintain good punctuality and attendance.
- Ability to work safely and effectively in a preparation plant environment.
- Must be able to communicate effectively with other team members and supervisors.
- Good problem-solving skills and attention to detail
- Good organizational, time management and multitasking skills.
Environment and Safety
- Ensure adherence to State, Federal and Company workplace policies and standard work procedures for risk identification, risk assessment and risk control.
- Maintain a high level of Safety performance through effective communication, monitoring, and revision of standard work procedures.
- Identify and report safety risks, accidents, incidents, injuries, and property damage at the workplace.
- Attend and participate in all scheduled safety meetings and training.
- Ensure adherence to environmental policy, work standards, management plans and regulatory obligations and requirements.
Physical Requirements:
- Must be able to stand for long periods of time on uneven, rocky surfaces.
- Must be able to sit for up to 4 hours to operate equipment or vehicles.
- Must be able to walk for up to 4 hours at a time.
- Will need to walk through different areas of the work area with different amounts of clearance and headroom.
- Walking ability will be based on SCSR emergency evacuation plan required and approved by MSHA.
- Must be able to wear the required protective footwear, hearing and eye protection, and other personal protective equipment as required by Company and MSHA.
- Must be able to bend or stoop for a full work period because of varying work heights.
- Must be able to climb up and down stairs/steps and climb on and off equipment and ladders.
- Must be able to do repetitive hand and wrist motions (push, pull, twist, handle), and have quick reflex movements of the arms and legs as well as good hand to eye coordination.
- Must be able to lift 25 to 50 pounds frequently and occasionally lift items weighing up to 75 pounds.
- Must be able to work in extreme conditions, including but not limited to changing weather conditions, dust, mud, varying levels of noise from low to high decibels, varying degrees of light and dark, in and around artificial light and in a confined work area.
