The School of Arts and Sciences (
SAS) is the largest academic unit at Rutgers University and the center of the undergraduate experience on the Rutgers-New Brunswick campus and is comprised of 41 academic departments spanning the liberal arts.

Posting Summary |
Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey, is seeking a Hall Director Assistant for the School of Arts and Sciences. This position serves as: a secondary staff member responsible for supervising students and Resident Mentors (RM).
Among the key duties of this position are the following:
- Co-facilitates staff training for Resident Mentors and develop activities; assist with organizing staff social and team building activities.
- Assists with the opening and closing of the residence hall at the beginning and end of the Summer Institute.
- Serves on supervisory on-call duty rotation, nights and weekends.
- Supervises students outside the classroom.
- Assists with community development and planning/leading educational and social activities.
- Assists in ensuring the health and safety of all students by following medical protocols covered in the Handbook and written materials.
- Responds to crises and emergencies as directed in established protocols or as directed by the supervisor or SASEOF leadership.
- Attends staff meetings, training sessions, and other required meetings as deemed necessary.
- Assists with RM duty schedule.
- Serves as a resource, referral, and communication agent for staff and residents.
- Distributes paperwork, flyers, brochures, etc. according to instructions. Serve as liaison between the professional staff, Residence Life staff, and residents.
- Assists with clerical tasks.
- Handles other duties as assigned.

Qualifications
Minimum Education and Experience |
- Bachelor's degree in a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and/or experience.
- Must have at least 1 year of residence life experience.

Certifications/Licenses |
- Use of personal vehicle in order to travel for business demands; a valid driver's license would be required for this position.
- Must have completed protection of Minors Certification before the program starts.

- Must have strong leadership, communication, programming, and organizational skills.
- Must complete the required Residence Hall training.

Physical Demands and Work Environment |
- Must be able to commit to full-time employment for the duration of the Summer Institute.
- Employee is required to stay overnight in the residence Hall from July 6th to August 1, 2025.
- May not hold any outside employment.
- Must be willing to undergo a background check.
- The Summer Institute begins on July 1, 2025, through August, 2025.
- Must attend training starting on July 7h through July 11 before the start of the program.
