APPLY The Cornell Jeb E. Brooks School of Public Policy is seeking two Research Support Specialists for the Brooks Tech Policy Institute - Semiconductor Research Hub. The individuals in this role will play a key part in the research and analysis conducted by BTPI, contributing to the success of its projects through comprehensive data collection, statistical analysis, report writing, and grant preparation. The Opportunity Research and Data Analysis (30%) - Manage the collection, preparation, verification, and analysis of highly complex data. - Determine appropriate statistical methodologies and conduct detailed analysis to support research projects. - Synthesize and interpret research results for contribution to publishable research reports, papers, and articles. Report Writing and Publication Preparation (30%) - Assist the principal investigator in the overall planning and preparation of research papers, articles, and reports for publication. - Draft and edit technical sections of research publications, ensuring clarity and coherence. Grant Writing and Management (20%) - Assist in writing specific areas of grant proposals, contributing to the design and development of grant budgets. - Manage grant budgets and financial resources, ensuring compliance with university and donor guidelines. - Identify new funding opportunities and assist principal investigator in preparing proposals for future research funding. Research Support and Coordination (15%) - Manage record-keeping processes and inventories; develop reports on technical operations and ensure compliance with appropriate research protocols (e.g., IACUC, IBC, IRB). - Coordinate research activities, including working with research assistants and other team members to ensure project milestones are met. Other position-related responsibilities (5%) - Participate in projects with occasional work responsibility falling above or below current classification. - Completion of any university-required compliance trainings. - Other position related responsibilities as assigned. - Master's degree and 3 to 5 years of relevant experience or equivalent combination, including relevant research experience, data collection, data analysis, and report preparation. - Detail-oriented with effective organizational and project-management skills to coordinate multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment. - Ability to cultivate and develop inclusive and equitable working relationships with students, faculty, staff, and community members. Preferred Qualifications - Prior experience working in research support roles at academic or policy-focused institutes. - Familiarity with grant management processes, including preparation of proposals and budgets. - Experience in writing and contributing to research publications, including journal articles and white papers.
