Then join Metra's HR team as a Senior Compensation Analyst. This coveted position allows you to use Excel proficiencies to create pivot tables, model data, and analyze cost scenarios; provides a platform to exhibit verbal and written abilities through the drafting of detailed job descriptions, compensation recommendations, and explanations of compensation recommendations, practices and processes: and employs your research skills to discover current trends in compensation, conduct surveys with other compensation professionals, and access real-time market data in recommending employee pay, salary structure adjustments, annual increases, and compensation practices.

Reporting to the Senior Manager, Compensation, the Senior Compensation Analyst plays a key role in developing, implementing, and assessing compensation programs that support Metra's ability to attract, retain, and engage top talent in alignment with the organization's business strategy.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Conduct job analyses using market data, internal equity, and industry benchmarks to ensure competitive compensation.
  • Design and administer compensation surveys, analyze results, and provide recommendations to maintain market competitiveness.
  • Assess employee and applicant qualifications to recommend appropriate salaries for hires, promotions, and job changes.
  • Partner with managers to draft and update job descriptions, ensuring accuracy in duties, qualifications, and required skills.
  • Analyze compensation data and generate reports supporting initiatives such as the annual merit budget, salary structure management, and special compensation projects.
  • Promote and uphold safe work practices within the organization.
  • Perform additional related duties as needed.

Compensation:
Final salary is based on qualifications. Candidates with eight or more years of required experience may receive offers up to the midpoint of the salary range. Metra provides full pay ranges to highlight potential career growth.

Requirements

Required:

  1. Bachelor's degree, or a combination of education and experience equivalent to four (4) years in Human Resources.
  2. Five (5) years of compensation experience.
  3. Strong knowledge of federal and state labor laws (EEO, FLSA, ADA) and compensation regulations.
  4. Expertise in salary planning, job evaluation, and market analysis.
  5. Strong analytical, quantitative, organizational, and communication skills.
  6. Experience collaborating across all levels of an organization.
  7. Intermediate proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint).
  8. Ability to prioritize, manage assignments, and handle confidential information with discretion.

Preferred:

  1. Experience working with HRIS systems.
