The Beirne B. Carter Immunology Research Center at the University of Virginia is seeking a highly motivated Laboratory Technician 2. This position provides technical support to a basic science research laboratory that will consist of undergraduate students, research scientists, and technical staff. Students getting ready to graduate with a science related degree, this coming May are strongly encouraged to apply. Core Duties:
The selected candidates will be expected to communicate respectfully and clearly with laboratory members and help seek possible solutions to laboratory challenges at hand. Applicants should also have a strong background in Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, and Word. Preference will be given to those with experience in Flow Cytometry Optimization but training in all core duties will be provided to the selected applicants. To be considered, all applicants should have prior laboratory experience and champion a high level of integrity and attention to detail in documentation and all lab work. Minimum Requirements Education: Associate's degree Experience: At least 2 years of lab experience, which may include student experience. Bachelor's degree in related science will be considered in lieu of experience. Physical Demands This position can spend extensive periods of time standing and squatting while conducting experiments or caring for animals. Also requires keyboarding and other bench work and animal procedures requiring finer finger manipulation. This is a restricted position; continuation is dependent on funding and satisfactory performance. This position is located in Charlottesville, Virginia.This is a full-time benefited position.
