The Impact You Will Have

This position has shared accountability for client retention, growth, margin contribution and overall business performance relative to a team of Client Advisors who work with Blue Cross largest and most complex Major Accounts that consist of national clients, group labor Taft Hartley funds and external partners (i.e. TPAs, platform administrators vendor solutions) and their corresponding Account Managers. In addition to managing staffing models, client assignments, coaching/mentoring and staff performance, this position is also responsible for representing Major Accounts, and Commercial Markets, across the enterprise for new innovations, emerging operational initiatives, and issues. The incumbent is also responsible for drafting and/or reviewing related operational communications, alerting and/or training staff of critical changes or deployments, serving as a consultative resource for, and advocate to, the enterprise relative to Major Account operational needs and providing leadership support to ensure successful execution of operational initiatives identified in the Major Account strategic business plan.

Your Responsibilities

  • Responsible for managing the Client Advisor team, including but not limited to performance management, assessing skill and career development, fulfilling policy administration, and has line of site over employee relations concerns and cost control.

  • Ensures that Major Account clients and fund's needs, and product requirements are met through the efforts of the Client Advisors who work in concert with the Principal and Senior Account Managers.

  • Oversees proper servicing of Major Accounts to ensure satisfaction, efficient and effective performance, and retention of business.

  • Establishes and maintains relationships and consults effectively with leadership across the enterprise, customers/funds, and external partners (TPAs, Consultants) when appropriate, to help ensure business requirements are defined and expectations are properly set to maximize client satisfaction and resulting revenue and growth.

  • Initiates, leads and/or participates as a subject matter expert in cross-functional projects at both an enterprise and market segment level to ensure that product or service design, implementation, performance improvements and new program initiatives adequately address the unique operational needs of Major Account clients/funds and TPAs.

  • Directs the planning and development of transaction improvement activities, including development of policies, procedures, processes, and performance standards as it relates to business rules and customer deliverables.

  • Leads initiatives to develop and deploy best practice processes, technology, training, and templates to improve the quality and effectiveness of operations account management performance for Major Accounts, and Commercial Markets as requested.

  • Provides centralized oversight on performance guarantees by participating on the Performance Guarantee Oversight Workgroup.

  • Directs action as needed to mitigate the company's financial exposure through process improvement efforts.

  • Helps identify new savings or revenue opportunities from an operational perspective and facilitates deployment across Major Accounts.

  • Participates in RFP efforts and sometimes finalist meetings related to the Client Advisor function.

  • Provides ad hoc support in performing the Client Advisor role as needed, including consultation on client-specific deliverables, travel in support of client or member meetings or other tactical needs to support CA efforts in executing against client requirements.

Required Skills and Experiences:

  • 5+ years of related professional experience. All relevant experience including work, education, transferable skills, and military experience will be considered.

  • 3 years of experience leading a team or product.

  • Possess and maintain a valid MN Resident Producer License in the lines of Life & Health/ Accident in good standing within 60 days of employment.

  • Expert strategic planning and business planning skills.

  • Proven personnel motivation, mentoring and change management skills to motivate and lead a skilled professional staff, including coaching, performance management, and organizational skills.

  • Demonstrated ability to lead, drive results and excel in a collaborative environment.

  • Ability to build and maintain strong positive business relationships to have influence, credibility, and respect at all levels across the enterprise and in the industry.

  • Ability to navigate through a complex, matrixed organization and operate successfully in an environment with high level of ambiguity.

  • Advanced knowledge of health care environment, local and national competition, leading edge products, best practice design and account management strategies.

  • Strong problem solving, conflict resolution, facilitation and consensus building skills.

  • Strong business acumen, communication, and diplomacy skills, including written, oral and presentation skills.

Preferred Skills and Experience

  • Bachelor's degree.

  • Prior account management or sales experience.

  • Knowledge of Blue Cross and affiliates products.

Compensation and Benefits:

Pay Range: $115,000.00 - $155,300.00 - $195,600.00 Annual

Pay is based on several factors which vary based on position, including skills, ability, and knowledge the selected individual is bringing to the specific job.
