JOB FUNCTION / SUMMARY:

The Domestic Collections Specialist job is primarily responsible for processing negotiable items that cannot be processed through the normal proof procedures for settlement with other banks.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Processing matured Bearer Bonds or Coupons.
  • Outgoing / Incoming Collection Items.
  • Negotiable Items previously returned unpaid.
  • "ON US" checks sent for collections.
  • Process mail requests to close customer accounts.
  • Process bank by mail for designated PO Box locations.
  • Other duties as assigned.
  • Processing of various assigned payments and/or deposits received

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:

None

MINIMUM REQUIRED EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE & KNOWLEDGE:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Six months related experience and/or training
  • A combination of education and experience will be considered.

ESSENTIAL MENTAL & PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Negotiation skills or ability to learn and implement.
  • Ability to exercise tact and good interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work under stress and meet deadlines.
  • Ability to operate related equipment to perform the essential job functions.
  • Ability to read and interpret a document if required to perform the essential job functions.
  • Ability to lift/move/carry approximately 10 pounds if required to perform the essential job functions. If the employee is unable to lift/move/carry this weight and can be accommodated without causing the department/division an "undue hardship" then the employee must be accommodated; hence omitting lifting/moving/carrying as a physical requirement.
