Job Summary

GateWay Community College is now hiring a great new role! This position provides instruction for vocational or occupational Cosmetology classes at the post-secondary level at the Deer Valley campus: 2931 West Bell Road, Phoenix, AZ 85053.

Essential Functions

50% Provides instruction and conducts on-the-job training classes, lab demonstrations, or sessions

20% Plans, reviews and evaluates student work assignments; records student progress; observes and evaluates
student work to determine progress; provides feedback and coaching

15% Prepares and maintains student records and reports grades and clocked hours

10% Assists in development of new courses, curricula, course content, lessons and assessments and selection of course materials; assists with the tutoring of students in preparation for exams

5% Performs other duties as assigned

Minimum Qualifications

High School Diploma or GED and four (4) years of experience in the Cosmetology industry. This assignment requires a valid and current Arizona Cosmetology Instructor license.

There is no substitution or equivalency allowable for the High School Diploma or GED.

Desired Qualifications

A) Experience working as an Instructor in the Beauty and Wellness field for 6 months or more
B) Compliance of Arizona Board of Barbering & Cosmetology rules and regulations in everyday practice as evidence in application materials
C) Experience in building community relationships and partnerships
D) Experience teaching Milady's Standard of Cosmetology as evidence in application materials

Special Working Conditions
  • Will be required to travel or be assigned to all GateWay locations
  • May require some evenings or weekends
  • May be required to lift or carry up to 25lbs
  • Standing for an extended period of time during a work day
  • May be required to work in an area of light to heavy noise levels daily
  • MCCCD does not sponsor individuals for any type of work visas
  • Travel to campus during the interview/selection process will be at the candidate's own expense
