Position Summary:
The IAM Technical Specialist will play a
pivotal role in the support, and potential development and deployment of
Identity and Access Management (IAM) solutions. This role requires a seasoned
IT and cybersecurity professional with strong communication skills and the
ability to quickly adapt and acquire deep IAM expertise.
Essential Functions:
-Troubleshoot issues related to identity aggregation, credential provisioning, access management, and authentication.
-Coordinate with the AMG team and other IST team members to prioritize tasks and address technical barriers.
-Conduct stakeholder workshops, gather requirements, and document IAM solution designs.
-Develop and maintain lifecycle policies, data mapping, workflows, and configurations.
-Configure, develop, test, deploy and support IAM solutions, including integration and end-user services.
-Manage IAM system enhancements to align with business needs.
-Support technical assessments and planning for IAM initiatives.
-Collaborate with stakeholders and partners inside and outside the university, as needed.
-Look for areas of continuous improvement and make recommendations to the leadership.
Prerequisite Qualifications:
-Bachelor's Degree in computer science, information systems, or a related field.
-3+ years in IT; 1+ year in systems/server administration, directory services (LDAP, Active Directory), and database administration.
-Technical expertise in IAM concepts: SSO, identity federation, MFA, lifecycle management, role-based access control (RBAC), and access provisioning.
-Scripting (JavaScript, PowerShell, Python, etc.) or development experience (Java).
-Cloud computing, web services, and APIs (XML, REST, SCIM).
-Familiarity with directory platforms and enterprise authentication services.
-Proficient in troubleshooting technical issues and multitasking on projects.
-Strong technical writing and communication skills.
-At the university's discretion, the education and experience prerequisites may be exempted where the candidate can demonstrate to the satisfaction of the university, an equivalent combination of education and experience specifically preparing the candidate for success in the position
Preferred Qualifications:
-Experience supporting Sailpoint or Okta identity platforms.
-Knowledge of virtual/cloud environments, and network systems.
-Experience in higher education.
-Understanding of security regulations and information assurance processes.
-Familiarity with database platforms and administration.

Salary Information:
In compliance with the NJ Pay Transparency Law, the negotiated annual salary range for this position is $65,522-$122,474 (USD). NJIT considers factors such as (but not limited to) scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate's work experience, education/training, key skills, internal peer equity, as well as, market and organizational considerations when extending an offer. This pay range represents base pay only and excludes any additional items such as incentives, bonuses or other items.
