The Department of General Services (DGS) has an outstanding career opportunity for an energetic, experienced Assistant Construction Project Coordinator in the North Western Region of Pennsylvania! Construction portfolios consist of projects located within other Commonwealth Agency facilities such as Department of Corrections (Correctional Institutions), Department of Human Services (State Hospital and Center Facilities), Pennsylvania State System of Higher Education (Universities), Department of Military & Veterans Affairs (Readiness Center and Veterans' Hospital), Department of Conservation and Natural Resources (Flood Control, State Parks), and Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (Headquarter Building). This position is home headquartered; however, daily travel to job sites in the following North Western Region counties is required: Butler, Clarion, Crawford, Erie, Forest, Lawrence, Mercer, Venango, and Warren. In addition, you may occasionally be asked to travel to the following counties outside of the North Western Region: Allegheny, Armstrong, Beaver, and Jefferson.

DESCRIPTION OF WORK

This position reports to a Project Coordinator and assists in managing capital improvement projects for Commonwealth Agencies within DGS' North Western Region. Duties include coordinating projects to ensure they are in accordance with approved plans, specs, general conditions, laws, regulations, and procedures. You will be responsible for conducting job conferences; negotiating and approving change orders up to a specific limit; providing technical guidance and direction to outside professionals and contractors; monitoring project progress to ensure adherence to project schedules; problem-solving; using construction computer software for administrative forms and processes; generating various documents and reports in the IT system; representing the department in claims and disputes; as well as ensuring effective and efficient customer care to all client agencies and stakeholders. - Full-time employment, home headquartered
- Work hours are 7:00 AM to 3:30 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 60-minute lunch.
- Salary: Selected candidates who are new to employment with the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania will begin employment at the starting annual salary of $59,384.00 (before taxes).

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

QUALIFICATIONS Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:
- Four years of professional building construction administration, construction planning, or construction project engineering experience for renovations and new construction of commercial, institutional, or educational buildings; or
- An equivalent combination of experience and training.
Special Requirements:
- You must possess and maintain an active non-commercial Pennsylvania Class C driver's license or equivalent.
Additional Requirements:
- You must currently reside in or be willing to relocate prior to employment to Clarion, Crawford, Erie, Mercer, or Venango Counties.
- You must be willing to travel to counties inside and outside of the North Western Region.
- You must be able to perform essential job functions.
Preferred Qualifications (not required):
- On-site renovation and new construction experience at commercial, institutional, and educational buildings with a working knowledge of a Critical Path Method (CPM) schedule and multi-prime contractors
- Experience reading, following, creating, and understanding the various components of a CPM schedule
- Experience compiling information from various sources, prepare reports in Word, Excel, etc., and present reports both orally and in writing to team members
- Experience with change orders and knowledge to evaluate, negotiate, approve, disapprove, and process in e-Builder
- Experience reading, understanding, and executing contract documents for multi-prime contractors and have the skills to manage and investigate contractor(s) disputes
- Experience leading construction meetings
