Position Details:

This position provides support to the actuarial pricing area for various analytics exercises in support of Sun Life's Government Dental products. This includes building and maintaining systems, databases, and reporting capabilities to enhance pricing effectiveness and support the ongoing needs of the business.

The Sun Life Actuarial Student Program is designed for aspiring actuarial professionals and supports the continuing development of our actuarial community by promoting an environment conducive to a student's successful passing of actuarial exams and skill development.

Primary Responsibilities

• Assist in studies and analysis of overall block profitability, and pricing analysis. This includes client level pricing requests as well as product level pricing exercises.

• Summarize and model dental claims and premium information using SQL, Excel, Power BI, and other programming tools

• Assist with development of reporting metrics to provide information to senior management; and help influence strategic decision making

• Continually seek ways to improve efficiency of processes

• Establish framework of data governance

Requirements:

• Prior full-time actuarial experience (preferably 2 to 4 years)

• Have passed two to four Society of Actuaries exams and commitment to pursuing Fellowship with the SOA

• Bachelor's degree from an accredited degree program, preferably focused in Actuarial Science, Mathematics, Statistics, Data Analytics, Data Science, Computer Science or related field

• Excellent interpersonal skills and comfortable dealing with a broad range of stake holders

• Ability to think creatively for new and improved solutions and to translate complex, abstract concepts and theory

• Analytical, problem-solving and conceptual thinking skills

• Excellent verbal and written communication skills

• Proficiency with Excel/VBA

• Computer programming skills

Salary Range: $80,100 - $120,200
