Job Description

The Rockwell Automation Senior System Test Engineer will be responsible for the system testing of Rockwell Automation Motion Control products and systems.

As a Senior System Test Engineer for the Motion System Test team, you will be responsible for test planning, test case generation and test execution using analysis, construction, and automation frameworks that are unique to the industrial automation problem and - in some cases - unlike processes used anywhere else in the industry. You will define and build system test environments that push the limits of Rockwell product capabilities in all product families: Logix, networking, functional safety and HMI with major focus on motion control.

You will report to the Test Engineering Manager.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform routine system testing using existing test collateral and test cases. Report any issues identified and documenting test results for follow-up. Work with the development team to characterize any issues found.
  • Develop new test collateral - mostly control system applications - and test cases in response to new product or system requirements
  • Develop knowledge of system testing practices.
  • Seek and improve knowledge of system test development processes.
  • Evaluate, challenges, and research possible solutions by looking for input from subject matter experts to ensure fact-based recommendations and decisions are being made during all phases of product development.
  • Establish a timeline for assigned tasks/projects and can report progress.
  • Can utilize test tools and methods to ensure full system test coverage is attained.
  • Conduct informal presentations to small groups regarding specific technical topics.

The Essentials - You Will Have:

  • Bachelor's Degree in a relevant field or equivalent experience.
  • Legal authorization to work in the US is required.

The Preferred - You Might Also Have:

  • Bachelor's degree in an Engineering Discipline (Computer Science, Computer Engineering or Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineer, Chemical Engineering)
  • Typically requires 5+ years of experience.
  • Experience working in Electrical Control systems and with Rockwell Automation Motion Control.
  • Strong programming skills using Rockwell Automation Ladder Diagram and structured text
  • Experience with Kinetix drives.
  • A concentration in software/firmware or equivalent knowledge in the areas of software/firmware engineering (software requirements analysis, software design, software testing) .
  • Experience in Automation Applications Engineering work, Technical Support, System Integration or Field Service work
  • Proven software skills in scripting (preferable Python, SQL)
  • Familiarity with Webservice and API's
  • Apply knowledge of test methodologies
  • Experience with Rockwell Automation products or other industrial control equipment
  • Familiarity with Wireshark, JIRA, and iTRAK etc.
