Farnsworth Group is seeking a Construction Technician in one of the below posting locations. In this role, q ualified candidates will perform construction engineering services in Central Illinois. You will have an opportunity to work in the field on Municipal Water and Wastewater projects.

Job Activities:


  • Visits construction sites to provide quality control on construction project by ensuring plans and specifications are being adhered to by contractors and follow local/state regulations
  • Review plans on constructability in conjunction with the engineers and project managers
  • Performs quality control reviews of design documents, including plans and specifications, within the area of expertise
  • Attends meetings with clients and project manager to convey and/or receive information
  • Monitors contractor construction schedules to ensure projects are completed within established timelines
  • Observes testing required by contract documents to record and prepare reports
  • Prepares written materials to document activities, providing written reference and/or conveying information


Specific Requirements include:


  • Associates or Bachelor's degree in Construction Management/Civil Engineering Technology or related field desired.
  • Minimum of 5 years or equivalent of related experience
  • Valid Driver's License
  • Ability to read and comprehend civil engineering drawings and specifications
  • General familiarity with IDOT specifications
  • Ability to compute basic quantities for constructed components of a project
  • Basic survey capabilities with robotic and GPS survey equipment
  • Basic understanding of AutoCAD, Civil3D, a plus
  • Skills with documentation requirements and inspection procedures
  • This position typically has work that is performed in both an office environment and in the field on construction site
  • Must be willing to work outside in various weather conditions
  • Some daily travel will be required
  • Work requires lifting, stooping, bending, stretching, walking, standing, climbing, pushing, pulling, and other physical exertion
  • Able to develop relationships and communicate with clients
  • Able to work on several multi-discipline projects
  • Encourages and supports a safety-oriented culture

Salary Range: $25 - $34 (Salary to be determined by the education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities of the applicant, as well as internal and external equity)
