The Billing Intern position is a part-time internship for Summer 2025 and will be exposed to multiple areas of the Mansfield Power & Gas (MPG) Company. Projects and duties will encompass areas across of the breadth of the business while focusing billing & accounts payable functions. This position reports to the Divisional Controller and is located onsite at the Mansfield Power & Gas (MPG) location in Houston, Texas. This position will start on June 9th, 2025, and conclude on August 1, 2025.

Responsibilities:

  • Download & save assigned reports on daily & month schedules.
  • Proactively maintain & provide series of reports for Operations team.
  • Monthly invoice preparation and processing of billing adjustments.
  • Receive manual and automated invoices and process for payment.
  • Determine internal vs external invoice issues and engage appropriate stakeholders for resolution.
  • Process vendor forms with Accounts Payable and ACH set up.
  • Update Accounts Receivable Reports under guidance of Senior Accountant.
  • Assigned projects with guidance from management.
  • Organize and maintain digital files and records.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

Position Requirements:

Formal Education & Certification:

  • Undergraduate student - upcoming Junior or Senior seeking degree in Accounting or Finance.
  • Cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher.

Knowledge & Experience:

  • Previous experience in data entry or a similar clerical role preferred.
  • Preference given to applicants with experience within the Natural Gas Industry.
  • Strong typing skills (60+ words per minute) and proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word).

Qualifications & Characteristics:

  • Excellent analytical skills, ability to quickly understand, isolate and resolve issues.
  • Excellent time management skills, ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Proficient in MS Excel, MS PowerPoint and MS Word
  • High level of proficiency in MS Excel is required (must be proficient in lookups and pivot tables)

Work Environment:

  • Ability to sit for prolonged periods of time.
  • Able to view computer terminal for prolonged periods of time.
  • Dexterity of hands and fingers to operate a computer keyboard, mouse and other computer components.
  • Close visual acuity needed to review spreadsheets and for discerning fine print.
