Position Summary:
The Managing Editor for MDalert will oversee content planning and execution of text and video editorial products, including simulated case presentations, aligned with the information needs of healthcare professional audiences around the latest disease management guidelines, clinical trial outcomes, and drug approvals in multiple clinical areas appropriate to US audiences and audiences outside the US.
The Managing Editor ensures that the content published is true to our brands' missions and values and builds on our leadership position in health and medical information worldwide. This position ensures timely, engaging, and relevant coverage for healthcare professionals.
The ideal candidate will be knowledgeable in current medical science, have strong communication skills, and have demonstrated analytical problem-solving skills. This role will deeply understand the information needs of the audience across a variety of medical specialties. Strong editing and writing skills are essential. The candidate must also possess exceptional operational and organizational skills, most notably the ability to balance competing priorities while meeting business goals.
This role collaborates with Executive Editors, Program Managers, Editorial Directors, and others to ensure alignment on planned content.
Job Responsibilities:
  • Oversee the development of text and video content appropriate to healthcare professional audiences
  • Provide quality control for peers, ensuring content is current and factually accurate, covers the intended scope, and is appropriate to the targeted healthcare professional audience
  • Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams to ensure alignment on planned editorial content and timing
  • Manage resources appropriately for multiple concurrent projects and deadlines for consistent on-time delivery
  • Review audience data and track medical developments to include results of major studies, release of clinical guidelines, and FDA and EMA approvals to facilitate content planning
  • Work with team members to refine best practices, ensure consistency, and increase efficiency
Skills, Requirements, and Experience:
  • Bachelor's degree or higher in journalism, communication, English, science, medicine, or equivalent years of relevant experience
  • Five years' experience in medical content media, publishing, marketing communications, or a similar field
  • Robust grasp of disease pathophysiology, treatment modalities, and emerging therapies
  • Ability to analyze complex data including but not limited to clinical trials, treatment guidelines, and scientific publication research with an understanding of global, regional, or country unique audience needs
  • Strong interpersonal communication skills and writing that demonstrates correct grammar, punctuation, and syntax
  • Proven initiative, problem-solving skills, interpersonal communication skills, and organized, detail-oriented approach
  • Proficiency in Google and Microsoft suites to include Word, Google Docs, Google Sheets, and Excel
  • Experience with Workfront or other project management tools preferred
  • Ability to effectively collaborate and work independently while appropriately prioritizing work streams with high volume and firm deadlines
  • This role may require travel to occasional (eg, 1-2 per year) medical conferences/meetings
