Civil Engineer Intern

Delve Underground has a summer internship opening for a Civil Engineer Intern to join our Cleveland team. This position focuses on supporting the delivery of tunnels, underground facilities, and wastewater infrastructure projects. This position offers a great opportunity for a motivated, detail oriented, team-centric candidate to work on diverse jobs and gain experience, from local pipeline crossings to water & wastewater mega-projects across the country. The ideal candidate will have either academic or prior work experience in one or more of the following areas: geotechnical engineering, civil engineering, structural engineering, civil engineering design technology and drawings, engineering project management.

Responsibilities:

  • Assist with engineering analyses and design for tunnels, shafts, foundations, temporary excavation support systems, and soil/rock slopes under the direction of senior engineers
  • Assist with cost estimation and construction scheduling under the direction of senior engineers
  • Assist with writing technical reports and other documents explaining the basis for analyses, designs or recommendations
  • Assist with the preparation of construction drawings and specifications for underground infrastructure
  • Work as an integral member of a team on complex, multi-discipline projects.
  • Demonstrate good writing and communications skills and ability to communicate with internal staff and clients.
  • Work on a variety of office and field assignments

Qualifications:

  • Current student or BS Civil Engineering, Geological Engineering, or Construction Management.
  • Completion of relevant coursework or experience in several of the following: statics, dynamics, mechanics of materials, geotechnical engineering, fluid mechanics, project management, surveying, hydraulic engineering, water resources, foundation engineering, reinforced concrete and steel structural analysis and design
  • Experience with design technology software such as Civil3D, REVIT, OpenGround and Microstation is a plus
  • Ability to manage a number of concurrent assignments and priorities
  • Strong analytical and technical communication skills
  • Willingness to work in the field and travel for short-term assignments
