Public Agency Resources (PARS), a subsidiary of Willdan Group Inc., is seeking part-time Code Enforcement Officers in the Santa Cruz County, CA area. The Code Enforcement Officers will be responsible for conducting field investigations regarding possible violations of a variety of City/County codes and ordinances, and related state codes including zoning, nuisance, property maintenance, housing, transportation, and animal and business license/permits, health and sanitation.

The available schedules for this role are:

Friday: 2PM-11PM

Saturday: 8AM-5PM, and 2PM-11PM

Sunday: 8AM-12PM and 12PM-9AM

Holidays observed by the city will be scheduled to work.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Respond to reports of potential code violations, such as high weeds, junk vehicles, illegal dumping, unauthorized land use, and substandard housing.
  • Conduct on-site inspections and document findings.
  • Issue notices of violation and work with property owners to bring properties into compliance.
  • Provide deadlines for corrective action and conduct follow-up inspections.
  • Issue citations or refer cases for legal action when necessary.
  • Inform the public about local ordinances and provide guidance on how to comply.
  • Collaborate with community groups to promote voluntary compliance.
  • Keep accurate documentation of inspections, violations, and enforcement actions.
  • Prepare reports for supervisors, city officials, and legal proceedings.
  • Testify in administrative hearings or municipal court cases involving code violations.

Job Requirements / Qualifications

  • Current PC 832 certification.
  • Certification as a Code Enforcement Officer from CACEO or similar organization.
  • 3-5 years' experience.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
