Ensure that both internal and external customers receive a high-quality ambulance by inspecting the paint application and finish, identifying defects, and ensuring necessary corrections are made prior to shipment.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Understand and carry out oral and written directions.
  • Close attention to detail.
  • Function with a minimal amount of supervision or no supervision.
  • Set work priorities to meet production goals as scheduled per assigned department.
  • Establish and maintain cooperative working relationships.
  • Knowledge of basic 12 volt electricity.
  • Update production tracking board.
  • Must be able to drive and road test vehicle.
  • Responsible for reporting deficiency in design and suggestion of improvements in design and assembly technique.
  • Responsible for water testing, fixing leaks, and weighing of ambulances.
  • Responsible for road and function testing of ambulances.
  • Responsible for final cosmetic sign-off of emergency vehicles.
  • Responsible for inspection and function testing of all emergency vehicles ambulances received.
  • Responsible for reporting of warrantable items on units through detail.
  • Responsible for verifying options to orders.
  • Responsible for completing a cosmetic tag.
  • Ability to train new inspectors.
  • Be compliant with all the rules of conduct and attendance per the company handbook.
  • Other duties and responsibilities as required.
  • Ensure that hazardous waste that is handled is placed into the proper container(s).
  • Familiar with Hazardous Waste Contingency Plan.
  • Knows spill response procedures and evacuation routes.
  • Fill in for lead when absent.
  • Computer entry of defects and errors.
  • Printing of computer generated reports.
  • Notify supervisor/lead if not on schedule.
  • Follow departmental work instructions.
  • Notify supervisor/lead if encountering maintenance issues.

Qualifications/Training:

  • Ability to read, write, comprehend, and verbally communicate instructions.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to recognize quality standards in paint finishes.
  • Understanding of engineering drawings, schematics, and other instructions related to paint specifications.
  • Knowledge of paint measuring devices, including thickness gauges.
  • Ability to identify and troubleshoot common paint defects and recommend corrective actions.
  • Must have a valid driver's license.
  • Previous experience in automotive or industrial painting inspection preferred.
  • Must maintain a positive rating as described in the training/qualification evaluation record as a Quality Inspector "A."
  • General knowledge of OSHA and EPA standards related to paint and hazardous materials.
  • Training in Hazardous Materials Handling Operations with an annual refresher course.
  • Familiarization with hazardous waste contingency plans and spill response procedures.

Experience:

  • Minimum two (2) years of experience as a QC Inspector or similar quality inspection role within a paint or manufacturing industry.
  • Paint shop experience required.
  • Experience with assembly hand tools.
  • Customer service experience.

  • Ability to occasionally lift and/or move up to 40#'s without assistance.
  • Ability to work from various squatting, kneeling or bending positions.
  • Ability to work with arms above head.
  • Ability to work from ladders or scaffolding.
  • Ability to stand at a workstation for ten hours a day (minus specified breaks).
  • Ability to safely use specified hand, air, power tools, and machinery.
  • Ability to operate and understand the operation of all protective safety equipment in the area.
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, peripheral vision and depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
  • Hand-Eye coordination.
  • Ability to work in noisy and dusty conditions.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee regularly works near moving mechanical parts. The employee is frequently exposed to fumes or airborne particles and vibration. The employee is occasionally exposed to toxic or caustic chemicals.
