Position Summary:

Vallen's Safety Services Project Supervisor is an individual contributor responsible for P&L and operational oversight for Project Construction. Be responsible for overseeing daily activities and performance for a team of service technicians to ensure the quality of work provided to the customer meets and/or exceeds Vallen's contract and the customer's service level agreement. You will also ensure assigned team members are properly trained and are working in compliance with Vallen standard operating procedures, company policies, and customer specifications.

Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Collaborates with Logistics, Sales and other business segments to implement VSS strategic initiatives.
  • Staff/ Personal management
  • Oversees Project Construction
  • Manages and tracks project budget.
  • Assists in proposal and large project plan development and management.
  • Oversees safety, quality and SOP compliance for all assigned site(s).
  • Implements, reinforces, and ensures adherence to company policies and procedures.
  • Accountable for appropriately using and/or overseeing the use of various company provided assets which may include but are not limited to company vehicle, inventory, safety equipment, laptop, LSI scanner, test equipment, tools, radio, cell phone, fuel card and/or credit card.
  • Manages P & L for all assigned site(s).
  • Performs staff supervisory duties for assigned team; responsibilities include but are not limited to interviewing, selecting, hiring, coaching, training, counseling, delegating work assignments and disciplining associates while enforcing company policies, procedures, and productivity standards.
  • Acts as the liaison between Vallen Safety Services and the customer; interfaces and collaborates with the customer for coordination of work requests and desired job activities.
  • Demonstrates awareness of profitability and utilization rates, cash flow, and other company metrics.
  • Produces data analytics for all financial segments of VSS; contributes to the development of area budgets and forecasts; reviews daily, weekly, and monthly reports to monitor branch performance; provides performance indication reports monthly and quarterly.
  • Continually looks for process and/or cost savings improvement opportunities at the client and collaborates with the client on desired service offerings.
  • Tracks and ensures compliance to all VSS KPI goals.
  • Audits and ensures adherence to all Vallen pricing and freight policies.
  • Oversees customer contract compliance; collaborates with VSS leaders to ensure branch compliance; collaborates with customers to ensure their contractual compliance; manages data integrity and entry into the VSS/Customer compliance database.
  • Ensures accurate and timely billing of customer orders.
  • Participate in succession planning.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Staff Management Responsibilities:

Immediate supervision over a unit, section or department where the majority of the time is spent assigning, reviewing, checking work and eliminating ordinary difficulties. Recommends candidates for hiring, termination; prepares and conducts performance appraisals and salary reviews, and applies company policies.

Job Qualifications:

  • High School or GED
  • Bachelor's in related field of study or
  • 10+ years of applicable direct experience
  • 3+ Current Certifications (manufacturer/state) in a fire protection related field
  • Mechanically inclined
  • Advance communication, initiative, leadership, negotiation and problem-solving skills
  • Specific -- RELEVENT experience
    • In-depth experience Installing, inspecting, testing, maintaining Life Safety Systems such as Deluge, Pre-Action, Wet Sprinkler, Dry Sprinkler and Foam/ Special Hazard Systems.
    • Demonstrated ability to repair and service equipment sold by Vallen.
    • Current motor vehicle license with a good driving record; Commercial Driver License (CDL) required if transporting loads of hazardous materials.
    • Demonstrated proficiency with hand tools.
    • Demonstrated ability and/or competencies to manage a team successfully.
    • Demonstrated positive customer service and the ability to manage multiple customer accounts.
    • Demonstrated advanced computer skills and be efficient in Microsoft Projects, Work and Excel.
    • Must be able to read, write and comprehend English.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as training instructions, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to develop routine reports and correspondence.
  • Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.
  • Ability to interface in a customer responsive manner over the telephone and in person and handle difficult customer situations with diplomacy.
  • Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
  • Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.

  • This job operates in a professional office environment and routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets, etc.
  • Long periods of time working on a computer and performing repetitive key-boarding activities.
  • Occasional evening and weekend work may be required as job duties demand and may include little to no advanced notice.
  • While performing the duties of this job, associates are regularly required to sit, talk and hear.
  • Must be able to lift and/or move up to 10 pounds frequently and up to 50 pounds occasionally.
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
