Join our team as our newest
Warehouse Associate in our Buffalo, NY facility!
As part of the Warehouse Team, this position plays an important part in producing maintenance platform components, while ensuring proper form, fit and function of an overall quality product. The Shop Helper's basic job responsibility is to assist welders, assemblers, and other team members as needed in the fabrication shop. We are looking for a reliable, thorough, and attentive individual with a strong work ethic, willingness to learn new skills and act with initiative. Key Responsibilities
- Ability to receive/read, and understand specific instructions, basic drawings, work orders, and/or cut lists, and action to completion
- Ability to read and operate a tape measure, square, and angle finder
- Ability to keep work areas clean and clutter-free
- Willingness to learn machine/equipment operation, safety and preventative maintenance
- Knowledge and use of common material handling equipment and their safe operation: forklifts, overhead cranes, pallet-jacks
- Knowledge and use of common power tools and their safe operation:o metal working/beveling tools, abrasive cleaning tools, angle grinders, hand drills, impacts, wrenches, etc
- Knowledge and use of common industrial processing tools/types and their safe operation: band saw, table saw, miter saw, drill press, manual mill/lathe, ironworker - notching and punching
- Additional knowledge of industrial processing tools/types desirable but not required: torch (plasma), up-cut saw, and shear
- Knowledge and experience processing different material types and grades desirable but not required, i.e., carbon steel, stainless steel, and aluminum (6061 / 5052, etc,.)
- Ability to safely transport company products and materials to and from specified locations in a timely manner
- Assist with the loading and offloading of products and materials
- May be asked by management to perform other tasks beyond those listed
- Pick, pack and ship accurately and efficiently to meet company standards for safety, security and productivity
- Responsible for completeness and correctness of all orders filled; identify parts accurately for error free picking, packing and shipping
- Assist with physical inventory and cycle counting
Requirements
Education, Experience and Skills
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Experience: one plus (1+) years in a manufacturing environment, i.e., mechanical, technical, construction, and/or machining experience; specifically, operating shop related equipment, hand tools, and processing material by basic mechanical/machine means
- Previous pick, pack and ship experience
- Building/assembly experience
- Ability to read/audit production drawings
- Pallet jack experience
- Experience with various hand and power driven tools
- Basic computer skill set required, especially Microsoft Office suite
- UPS software, a plus
- Active fork truck license preferred, or previous fork truck experience, a plus
- Ability to work flexible schedule including overtime and weekends, as needed
Special/Particular Requirements (safety, physical, etc)
- Ability to life up to 50 lbs. regularly
- Ability to work in various warehouse conditions, including high and low temperatures
- Active position with regular standing/bending/lifting/crouching/climbing, up to 8 hours
