What Makes this Job Awesome?

Ensures the safe operation of horizontal band saw, manual cold saw and automatic cold saw. Cuts steel and aluminum pipe stock to correct length and quantities.

How Will You Do This?

  • Assures compliance with appropriate safety practices and procedures and with applicable federal, state and local codes, OSHA regulations and requirements
  • Maintains safe and clean working environment by complying with procedures, rules, and regulations
  • Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed
  • Determines sawing blade, type and grade of stock needed, and cutting procedures, according to work order or supervisor's instructions
  • Inspects stock for imperfections and estimates grade or quality of stock or work piece
  • Operates and tends saws and machines to cut stock and to adjust machine speed and tension, moving levers and handwheels
  • Operates and programs automatic cold saw using a touchscreen interface
  • Counts, sorts, and stacks finished work pieces and disposes of waste material
  • Uses strapping tensioner and crimper to secure completed skids or bundles
  • Lubricates and cleans machines, using wrench, grease gun, and solvents
Requirements

We Want to Hear from You If You Have:

  • High school diploma or G.E.D. Certificate; experience using a band saw
  • Mechanically inclined
  • Experience with trade tools, equipment, materials, tape measure, methods and techniques used in safe band saw operation
  • Ability to operate a variety of assigned tools and equipment effectively and safely
  • Ability to understand and follow oral and written directions; communicate effectively both orally and in writing
  • Ability to meet schedules and timelines
  • Maintain routine records
  • Establish and maintain cooperative and effective working relationships with others
  • Operate a forklift
  • Excellent hand-eye coordination
  • Mathematical aptitude
  • Ability to work flexible schedule including overtime and weekends, as needed

Special/Particular Requirements (safety, physical, etc)

  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs., frequently
  • Active position with regular standing/bending/lifting/crouching
  • Work is performed while standing and/or walking, 8 hours/day
  • Requires the ability to communicate effectively using speech, vision and hearing
  • Requires the use of hands for simple grasping and fine manipulations
  • Requires bending, squatting, crawling, climbing, reaching
  • Requires activities involving being around moving machinery, exposure to marked changes in temperature and humidity, and exposure to dust, fumes and gases
