Position: Construction Project Management Intern (Summer 2025) Physical Location: Birmingham, Alabama (On Site) Reports To: Design and Construction Manager Working Conditions: Standard office environment, no adverse conditions; Some travel may be required. Primary Purpose: Manage and track facility related construction and design projects, working with internal and external stakeholders to provide a quality product to our employees and bank customers. Gain construction knowledge through office and field related activities. Assist the Design and Construction department to compile process and procedure documentation. Principal Duties and Responsibilities:
- Students will be involved in project management, estimating, design, construction, marketing, security, AV and accounting in various ways.
- Work with Design and Construction Manager, Department Program/Project Manager and Architect to generate project scope, drawings and specifications.
- Assists with the compiling overall project budgets for submission and approval.
- Soliciting General Contractor involvement with pricing and project construction cost.
- Follows up with contractors and vendors to ensure satisfactory completion of work.
- Work with internal stakeholders to assemble project directories, schedule project calls and issue meeting minutes.
- Job Site Visits - Visit job site with Design and Construction Manager or Department Program Manager, make sure project is running smoothly and to Cadence Standards.
- Working with our selected contractors and their field team, gaining onsite management and meeting experience in Owner / Architect / Contractor Meetings, visiting current jobsites to learn about building systems and process.
- Review contractor proposals and bid tabs.
- Supervise contractor punch-list and QA/QC activities.
- Assist with department process and procedure training and documents.
- Participates in facility project meetings.
- Support the Facility Management team by managing current deliverables, compiling from the Design and Construction team and submitting in a well-organized and timely fashion.
- Work with vendors to ensure projects are updated and overall communications are handled professionally.
Job Specifications:
- Undergraduate level students enrolled in a Bachelor's level Construction Engineering or Management/Architectural/Civil Engineering degree program (3rd and 4th year students only).
- Interns are expected to work a normal 40-hour week
- Highly proficient in Microsoft Office applications: Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Outlook and Project
- Positive Attitude/Customer Service Mindset
- Time/project management skills
- Duties require professional and strong verbal and written communication skills
- Duties require strong computer skills, attention to detail and excellent organizational skills
- Ability to reason and make basic decisions unsupervised and able to work in fast-paced environment
- Ability to compose or create routine reports and correspondence
- Regular and reliable attendance
