Position Summary:

We are seeking a motivated Junior Data Engineer to join our team in downtown Houston, TX. This position is perfect for someone eager to build their skills in data engineering and data analytics. The ideal candidate should have a foundational understanding of data pipelines and analytics solutions. You will work with tools like Microsoft Azure Data Factory, Databricks, or similar platforms, and should have basic proficiency in SQL and Python. Additionally, you will assist in creating and maintaining analytics dashboards using tools like Power BI and Microsoft Fabric. Key responsibilities include designing, developing, and maintaining robust data architecture, as well as ensuring the efficiency, scalability, and reliability of our data pipelines. This role reports to the Data Solutions Manager within the IT Department. We offer a hybrid work schedule, with remote work available on Mondays and Fridays.

Essential Job Functions:

  • Develop, test, and maintain ETL processes using tools like Azure Data Factory, Fivetran/Airbyte, and Databricks (or other data pipeline tools).
  • Ensure data pipelines are reliable, efficient, and capable of handling large-scale data processing.
  • Collaborate with data analysts to understand data requirements and implement solutions to meet requirements
  • Clean, transform, and structure data to meet business needs and facilitate analytics.
  • Work with Power BI and Microsoft Fabric to build and maintain analytics data models and related solutions.
  • Collaborate with data analysts, data scientists, and stakeholders to understand reporting needs and ensure data solutions meet business requirements
  • Document data architecture, processes, and data pipelines to ensure knowledge sharing.
  • Prepare regular reports on data pipeline performance and usage.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree, or relevant certification, in computer science, data engineering, or equivalent experience in related fields.
  • 0-3 years of experience in data engineering.
  • Familiarity in Microsoft Azure Services, and Fabric, as they relate to data management.
  • Basic proficiency in Python and SQL.
  • Familiar with data pipeline tools such as Airbyte, Fivetran, DBT, Databricks.
  • Exposure to upstream Oil & Gas data and processes a bonus.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork abilities.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced and fluid environment; flexible with the demands of a growing company.
  • Ability to meet deadlines.
  • Physical Requirements and Working Conditions: Must possess mobility to work in a standard office setting and to use standard office equipment, including a computer, stamina to maintain attention to detail despite interruptions, strength to lift and carry files weighing up to 10 pounds; vision to read printed materials and a computer screen, and hearing and speech to communicate in person and over the telephone.
