Click *here to view the step-by-step instructions to refer a friend to this position.* Join our Team in Hartford, CT: We are seeking an enthusiastic and dynamic Sous Chef to join our team at Travelers in Hartford, CT. In this role, you will play a key part in overseeing the day-to-day operations of the Culinary Department. You'll assist with food preparation, menu development, and the execution of daily dishes, while also managing and leading a team of culinary professionals. You will work closely with the Executive Chef and culinary team to create innovative menus and supervise kitchen staff. This is an exciting opportunity for a culinary professional with at least 5 years of culinary experience, including prior leadership experience in the industry, ideally in hotels, country clubs, or restaurants. Key Responsibilities: Assist the Executive Chef in managing cost controls and monitoring expenses for the department. Contribute to the planning and development of menus, ensuring creativity and quality. Oversee and execute catering events, ensuring seamless service and customer satisfaction. Supervise, train, and manage kitchen staff, ensuring the highest standards of performance and efficiency. Collaborate with the marketing and culinary teams to roll out new culinary programs. Preferred Qualifications: Minimum 5 years of culinary experience, with at least 2 years in a culinary management role. Experience in hotels, country clubs, or restaurants is preferred Experience in high-volume, complex food service operations is highly desirable. Catering experience is a plus. Familiarity with institutional and batch cooking is beneficial. Strong knowledge of food trends, production, sanitation, presentation, and food cost controls. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), Outlook, email, and the Internet. Willingness to participate in client satisfaction programs and activities. ServSafe certification is highly preferred. Associate's degree or equivalent experience in the culinary field. Apply to Flik today!
