This position is a tiered position. Incumbents will have a position level assigned base on their skills and experience, and in alignment with position development plans. Position placement is at Amtrak's sole and absolute discretion.

SUMMARY OF DUTIES:

The Sr/Lead Supervisor of Freight Services is responsible for providing daily work train T and E's to the field to make sure all product demands are met for all stakeholders in Engineering, Mechanical and Transportation.

The incumbent will keep track of all material on the property from ballast to concrete tie cars to ensure production can continue and be uninterrupted for the multiple gangs of M of W work that is being performed.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:



  • The incumbent will create daily T and E requests for work trains and shop trains.
  • Will track all material on the property to ensure all production goals are met.
  • Will work closely with car inspectors and the Amtrak clearance bureau to ensure equipment is safe to move on/off Amtrak property.
  • Will keep track of Amtrak M of W cars in all yard facilities.
  • Will handle multiple projects continually during the production year to meet all deadlines.
  • Will handle various locations throughout the country to assist in M of W needs for Michigan, New Haven, Albany, New Orleans.
  • Oversee proper entry of equipment in UMLER to ensure movement on freight carrier lines.
  • Monitor, direct and coordinate all work train activities and provide guidance for resolution.
  • Recommend the establishment of regular crews, ordering of extra crews and annulling or abolishing crews when necessary.



MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:



  • Be familiar with Amtrak freight equipment and be able to track it.
  • Experience working in UMLER, Arrow and Cisprod
  • Knowledge of Amtrak passenger equipment.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Leadership skills and organizational skills.
  • Familiar with Amtrak Employee timetable, Book of Rules, NORAC and railroad operating practices of Amtrak and other carriers over which Amtrak ships equipment.



MINIMUM KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:



  • General knowledge of relevant FRA and AAR rules, regulations and procedures.
  • Strong ability to manage multiple projects at the same time.
  • Excellent written/oral communication skills.
  • Strong ability to plan and problem solve in an ever-changing environment.
  • Demonstrated skills using PC- based spreadsheet Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Word.


PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:



  • Bachelor's Degree required OR equivalentcombination of training, education and relevantexperience may be considered in lieu of a degree.
  • 3 - 6 years of relevant experience preferred
  • 6 to 10 years of Transportation operating experience preferably in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong business sense.

PAY TRANSPARENCY:

The salary/hourly range for the Sr Frieght Services is $78,600 - $101,1844 and $94,300 - $122,256 for the Lead Freight Services.Pay is based on several factors includingbut not limited to education, work experience, certifications,internal equity,etc.Depending on an employee's assigned worksite or location, Amtrak may consider ageo-pay differential to be applied to the employee's base salary. Amtrak may offeradditional incentive and pay programs to recognize and reward our employees,including a short-term incentive bonus based upon factors such as individual andcompany performance that is commensurate with the level of the position and/orlong-term incentive plan compensation.
