JOB OVERVIEW: Leads the training and development for the manufacturing site to support and build high performing teams. Partners with Site Leadership Team to develop solutions to support our Continuous Improvement journey. Drives the technical training of frontline team members to build engagement and commitment and becoming extraordinary at the basics in our key focus areas of Safety, Quality, Service, Performance, and People. Increases organizational performance through performing annual gap assessments, diagnosing performance issues and building training plans to close performance gaps. Identifies appropriate solutions and develops learning frameworks to achieve the Site's goals. Ensure the development of Training Team Members (Site Training Coordinators).
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Develops and executes site training strategy in partnership with Site Leadership and Manufacturing Continuous Improvement strategy
- Measures and works in close partnership with the Site Directors and Site functional teams to deliver functional training plans supporting site priorities and development opportunities.
- Monitors, measures, and evaluates the effectiveness of programs to ensure objectives continuously meet business needs, improve results in key focus areas, and promote operational efficiency.
- Drives the proper development of training plans for the site and execution of training matrices, training plans, and training content.
- Leads and develops site training coordinators by helping them achieve site-specific training plans, effective coordination of trainers, and efficient development and delivery of training.
- Establishes training content for each role using Poka knowledge modules and TWI methodology and by partnering with safety, quality, and other functions to develop content and ensure consistency.
- Establishes a plan to keep both content and training current for team members, including refresher training as needed, including ongoing management of Poka and SharePoint content.
- Ensures ongoing development for technical positions (electrical, mechanical, automation) and proper certification, leveraging partners for technical training, as well as supporting the training program for developing internal talent in these roles. Determines time allotted for training in each role, establishes the training budget based on the time allotment, and is responsible for tracking and achieving the budget.
- Ensures the site has the right trainers in place and evaluates trainer performance to a training standard, and makes recommendations to leaders as needed.
- Evaluates instructor performance and the effectiveness of learning programs; provides recommendations for improvement.
- Conducts training and models facilitation skills.
- Ensures all training is properly logged and is accessible for reporting and auditing.
- Partners with the corporate Learning and Organizational Development Manager on training methods and best practices.
- Partner with HR for reporting training reimbursement under the State of CA Employment Training Panel (ETP) contract.

WHAT YOU NEED *Minimum qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in business, Education, HR, OD, Psychology, or a similar related discipline.
- Three (3) years of training and learning experience in manufacturing, industrial, operational, or related fields as a learning & development practitioner.
- Two (2) years of leadership experience in manufacturing, industrial, operational, or related field.
- Demonstrated experience facilitating training by communicating effectively through active listening, direct communication, and feedback, and maintaining an appropriate balance between providing content and allowing learners to practice.
- Demonstrated experience analyzing training needs, identifying performance gaps and root causes, and recommending solutions to achieve desired performance outcomes.
- Demonstrated technical competence through training and/or experience to provide perspective about prerequisites and adjacent projects/experiences to enhance the learning objectives.
- Proven project management skills and the ability to facilitate organizing and managing multiple priorities and/or projects.
- Experience coordinating learning and development activities throughout the organization; perform training administrative tasks in a Learning Management System (LMS).
WORK ENVIRONMENT This is a standard manufacturing environment with exposure to noise, dust, hazardous materials, and heavy machinery in varying work and weather conditions.
