Improvement Manager, AMBS

SUMMARY / OBJECTIVE:

Lead and coordinate the improvement in the plant. Support and develop Improvement workgroups, using internal methodology Aluminum Metal Business System (AMBS). Collaborate with production / process / quality and all departments to ensure a continuous improvement of the performance of the plant.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:



  • Implementation and application of Housekeeping and AMBS principles
  • Support and Develop improvement workgroups within the plant. The methodology to drive improvement is the Aluminum Metal Business System (AMBS), internal toolbox and lean manufacturing system developed by Hydro.
  • Collaborate daily with quality / production / process / HSE / maintenance and all other departments to support problem solving and to follow improvement opportunities
  • Manage and develop the use of standardized procedures, through the tool INOSA
  • Train employees and external key partners to the AMBS principles and Hydro's standards

  • Excellent communication and interaction skills
  • Attention to detail with proven ability to research, analyse and solve problems
  • Experience working in a team environment with ability to build and leverage cross-functional teams and improvement groups
  • High energy level a must


REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:



  • Undergraduate degree in technical discipline; and 5 years hands on experience with a progressive organization working with lean manufacturing; or equivalent combination of education and experience


PREFERED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:



  • Previous safety experience preferred
  • Some college or associate's degree preferred


SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITY:

This position has no supervisory responsibility

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

This job operates in a manufacturing and an office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines. The dress is Production Uniform to Business Casual as the situation requires. (PPE/PPC local requirements)

The job may require a significant amount of time spent in the plant or outside, being subject to various weather conditions. Occasional exposure to dust, odors, oil, fumes and noise.

PERSONAL PROTECTIVE EQUIPMENT/CLOTHING:

As required at Hydro sites, it may include fire retardant clothing, safety glasses, metatarsal boots, ear plugs and hard hat.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear; to stand and walk; to use hands to fingers, handle or feel; and reach with hands and arms. This position is largely sedentary with some physical requirements to occasionally stoop, kneel, lift and move objects up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.

POSITION TYPE / EXPECTED HOURS OF WORK:

This is a full-time position. The days and hours of work are Monday through Friday, 7am - 4pm. Evening and weekend work may be required as job duties demand but are infrequent.

TRAVEL:

Light travel is expected for this position. Possible travel for training purposes (i.e. visits to other Hydro plant or training events) and 1-2 international trips for HSE Core Team meetings
