Sr. Operational Risk Analyst General Summary: The Senior Operational Risk Analyst assists the Enterprise Risk Management (ERM) department team in delivering valuable recommendations to assess and mitigate risk, strengthen control structures, and improve operational efficiency. The primary focus will be supporting ERM department leadership by reviewing operational/process breakdowns, supporting ongoing risk assessments, reviewing End-User Computing (EUC) risks (e.g., Excel spreadsheets), and data analytics/reporting.
Principal Duties and Responsibilities:
- Leads the enterprise risk assessment process, working with ERM department management and Bank staff to assess risks and implement enhanced controls and process improvements to mitigate risks.
- Leads with the Bank's incident management process, performing root cause analyses related to operational errors/breakdowns and implementing controls and/or process improvements to reduce risk and/or improve efficiency.
- Produce data analytics and reporting, presenting results clearly and creatively to include dashboards and board reporting.
- Leads in developing, evaluating, analyzing, and reporting Operational Risk Key Performance Indicators and Key Risk Indicators.
- Enhance data collection processes and procedures to include relevant information for building reports and analytical tools for the Enterprise Risk Management (ERM) department.
- Leads in implementing and maintaining the Bank's End-User Computing (EUC) Program, including an independent review of business unit Excel spreadsheets and other EUC processes (e.g., Tableau, Power Bi, Access, R, Stata, and Python).
- Leads in developing and maintaining operational risk policies and procedures.
- Conduct research and complete assigned training requirements necessary to stay current with industry skills.
- Performs other duties and projects as assigned by management.
Minimum Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Required:
- Knowledge at a level normally acquired through the completion of a bachelor's degree. Majors/minors in Business Administration, finance, economics, accounting, or related fields of study are beneficial.
- Five years of experience as a risk management analyst, auditor, financial analyst, or accountant is preferred. An advanced understanding of operational risk management frameworks, tools, and regulatory requirements is required.
- Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook is required.
- Advanced proficiency in data analysis with the ability to derive insights from data required.
- Knowledge and experience working with Data Science and Business Intelligence tools such as Tableau, PowerBI, SQL, R and/or Python.
- Knowledge of and experience working in the financial services industry is preferred. A general understanding of industry systems and practices is desirable.
- Excellent interpersonal, organizational, and communication skills to channel communication consistently and effectively and the ability to interact with business operations, technical staff, and Bank management.
