The Team Our Global Health Program harnesses advances in science and technology to save lives in poor countries. We focus on the health problems that have a major impact in developing countries but get too little attention and funding. Where proven tools exist, we support sustainable ways to improve their delivery. Where they do not, we invest in research and development of new interventions, such as vaccines, drugs, and diagnostics. Our work in infectious diseases focuses on strategies to fight and prevent HIV/AIDS, malaria, tuberculosis (TB), neglected tropical diseases, enteric and diarrheal diseases, pneumonia and polio. This posting represents two distinct 24 month opportunities within our Global Health Division: The Enterics, Diagnostics, Genomics, & Epidemiology (EDGE) Team, which aims to accelerate the reduction of childhood deaths from diarrheal disease, eliminate typhoid as a public health problem, enhance the development and use of diagnostics for infectious diseases, and develop low-cost and optimized approaches to pathogen surveillance in low- and middle-income countries (LMICs). The Malaria Team, which is dedicated to reducing the global burden of malaria and ultimately achieving its eradication. The team focuses on accelerating progress through innovation, strategic partnerships, and evidence-based policies, including investments in vaccines, vector control, surveillance, health system strengthening, funding, and country-level support. Candidates applying for this role may be considered for either of these opportunities based on their skills and experience.
