Position Summary
Reporting to the Director of Student Conduct and Community Standards with a dotted-line reporting relationship to the Director of Residential Life, the Associate Director for Residential Student Conduct is an integral member of the Dean of Students Office. This position supports the office's collaborative approach to fostering student success, ensuring a safe and inclusive residential environment, and managing the day-to-day operations of the Dean of Students Office. Key responsibilities include student conduct management, staff supervision, and active engagement in campus life.

As a leader within the Office of Student Conduct and Community Standards, the Associate Director will assist the Director with managing budget and financial processes and implementing policies, procedures, programs, and services designed to foster a community that respects individuals and supports community values. The Associate Director oversees student conduct case management and organizational systems, manages student conduct investigations, and delegates assignments to staff as needed. The Associate Director will also take leadership on charging cases involving residential students and oversee the appeals process. The Associate Director also serves as a member of the Residential Life leadership team, providing direction to professional and student staff within Residential Life related to the student conduct process, and is responsible for the creation and facilitation of ongoing training and development for campus collaborators and Residential Life staff at all levels.


The Associate Director actively promotes student responsibility, civility, and respect through effective administration of the student conduct process, educational programming, and enforcing relevant university policies and works collaboratively with students, faculty, and administrators to address behavior-related issues in and out of the classroom. This position requires frequent and meaningful interaction with residential students, parents/families, faculty, administrators, and community partners. The Associate Director performs other duties as assigned.

The Associate Director position is a full-time, 12-month, live-off appointment.

This position requires a background check and Child Abuse Certifications prior to the commencement of service.

Required Education and Experience
* Bachelor's degree
* At least 4 years of directly related, professional experience in Higher Education, Student Personnel, Educational Leadership, or a related field.
* An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.

Preferred Education and Experience
* Master's degree in Higher Education, Student Personnel, Educational Leadership, or a related field.
* A minimum of two years of higher education/student affairs-related work experience (two years specifically working with student conduct).

Required Skills and Abilities
* Excellent organizational skills and the ability to work independently and efficiently.
* Knowledge of fiscal management competencies and demonstrated experience in fiscal management.
* Exhibited work with diverse populations and developing inclusive communities and staff teams.
* Demonstrated supervision, development, mentoring, and motivation of a diverse student staff team and ability to articulate these concepts as transferable to professional staff teams.
* Ability to manage multiple collaborative projects and systems in a fast-paced environment.
* Strong interpersonal, leadership, oral, and written communication skills.
* Proven competency in Microsoft software, Excel, and database reporting.
* Experience in building collaborative partnerships with faculty, administrators, students, parents/families, and community partners.

Preferred Required Skills and Abilities
* Professional experience in residence hall management or residential student conduct implementation.
* Experience with Symplicity Advocate.
* Direct connection to the implementation of student conduct processes.
* Experience providing and facilitating training to student and professional staff.
* Understanding of a residential curriculum focused on facilitating student learning in a residence hall community.

This position is assigned to a hybrid work arrangement (on-campus and remote). The duration of this hybrid work arrangement is at the discretion of Temple University and the Department.
