Job Summary: The Senior HR Generalist position is responsible for providing full scope HR and payroll services to multiple clients spanning a variety of industries and employee sizes. The scope of services for each client is tailored to their individual needs. This is a client-facing role responsible for delivering comprehensive human resources and payroll services within the scope of the position's authority. This role serves as a key point of contact for clients, ensuring compliance with HR policies, payroll regulations, and employment laws. Additionally, the Senior HR Generalist provides guidance on HR best practices, employee relations, compliance, and workforce planning. The role requires strong attention to detail, the ability to manage multiple priorities, and a commitment to delivering high-quality HR solutions tailored to client needs. Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Manages and completes a variety of tasks to ensure the effective execution of the client's payroll function as it intersects with the HR function
- Serves as the primary point of contact for payroll related matters
- Interacts with clients at all levels and appropriately addresses day-to-day payroll matters as required by the scope of services agreement
- Ensures compliance with federal, state, and local payroll, wage, and hour laws and best practices; company policies; and Managed HR standards
- Utilizes advanced payroll knowledge to anticipate client needs; analyze performance and eliminate client issues
- Facilitates audits by providing records and documentation to auditors
- Identifies and recommends updates to payroll processing software, systems, and procedures
- Develops proficiency in multiple third-party payroll platforms
- Ensures all client payroll processes and documentation are current and accurate
- Processes client payrolls using third-party payroll platforms:
- Collects and reviews time, attendance and leave information
- Maintains payroll-related information and inputs into the payroll system (e.g., separations, tax exemptions, and misc. changes)
- Previews payroll changes prior to transmitting payroll
- Processes retirement remittances in applicable platforms
- Ensures accuracy of all payroll-related data (e.g., benefits, retirement, tax, etc.)
- Handles complex payroll situations with payroll providers, state agencies, employees, and client contacts
- Completes application forms for state tax withholding identification numbers, unemployment insurance identification number(s) and workers' compensation insurance, and perform the steps necessary to register the Organization to do business in new states in which employees are hired; researches and resolves payroll-related tax notices received; and closes out tax withholding accounts as appropriate
- Has proficient understanding of basic payroll laws and regulations
May administer benefits:
- Processes new hire enrollments, terminations, and changes
- Ensures compliance with COBRA and HIPAA guidelines
- Manages leave administration under disability plans, state, and federal leave guidelines
- Reviews, processes, and resolves any issues regarding benefit bill reconciliation
- Assists employees with benefits related questions and liaises between employees and the benefits broker/ insurance carriers
- Manages annual benefit renewal activities
- Oversee the open enrollment timeline/schedule
- Communicate with employees the steps and actions that need to be taken during the open enrollment period
- Assist Engagement Manager with evaluating renewals (quotes, changes, etc.), communication of renewal to client (cost sharing, plan design etc.), strategizing with client on renewal decisions ( go to market, plan design), etc.
Oversees complex payrolls within the Managed HR portfolio
- Quickly and effectively assesses client payrolls; develops working knowledge of client payrolls; assumes payroll responsibilities; identifies opportunities; provides continuity of services
- Liaises with auditors and manages payroll tax audits
- Ensures compliance with applicable laws and payroll tax obligations
- Provides support, guidance, and best practice information to clients on payroll related matters
- Identifies ways to streamline the payroll process
- Understands, and follows policies, procedures, and applicable employment laws that align with the workplace culture of the client
- Provides on-site support to clients as needed
- Provides support to all clients as needed
- Maintains knowledge of trends, best practices, regulatory changes, and new technologies in human resources, talent management, and employment law
- Participates in initiatives that improve the Managed HR Services team; contributes ideas, knowledge, and applicable past experiences

Preferred Qualifications (Education, experience, certifications):
- A bachelor's degree in Human Resources or other related education, and 5-7 years' relevant experience or any similar combination of education and experience
- PHR, CPP certification or other human resources/payroll certification preferred
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in relevant field
- 3 years of relevant work experience
- Achieve professional certifications relative to area of expertise, must have and preserve required licenses
- Must possess analytical skills
- Proficient use of applicable technology
- Demonstrated ability to communicate verbally and in writing throughout all levels of organization, both internally and externally

The annual salary target for this job in this market is $115,000 - $125,000. The specific compensation for this role will be determined based on the education, experience, and skill set of the individual selected for this position.
