JOB TITLE: PAINTER/FABRICATION TECHNICIAN DEPARTMENT:FABRICATION & MODIFICATION REPORTS TO: FABRICATION & MODIFICATION MANAGER CLASSIFICATION:NON-EXEMPT PRIMARY FUNCTION: The successful candidate will be responsible for sanding and preparing surfaces for paint, mixing, and applying paint products. With minor supervision of a senior fabricator, be able to fabricate, integrate, install, and perform repairs on aircraft sheet metal and mechanical components. DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Mask, sand, and prepare aircraft for paint application.
- Utilize detailed blueprints to layout pieces to be fabricated and installed.
- Layout and fabricate aircraft parts such as ribs, stringers, doublers, etc. using standard sheet metal repair techniques using measuring tools such as calipers, dial calipers and scales.
- Utilize fabrication machines including drill press, band saw, chop saw, bending breaks and shears.
- Ensure quality standards within guidance of all safety and regulatory regulations and requirements.
- Must be able to hold tolerances within .005 inches.
- Must become familiar with the different properties and strengths of aluminum, and stainless steel.
- Perform other duties as are necessary and/or required.
BASIC REQUIREMENTS LEVEL III:
- High school diploma with more than 5 years of experience in performing the stated functions
- Ability to obtain a security clearance
- Sheet metal Fabrication experience
- Must have Industrial Painting experience
- Must be familiar with Mil Specs components and processes
- Experience performing all aspects of multi component painting and Powder coating processes
- Must be able to lift 50lbs.
PREFERRED REQUIREMENTS:
- Able to use standard Aircraft and Industrial paint equipment: paint guns, sanding equipment, fluid measuring equipment, and common hand tools.
- Aircraft Structural Repair, Aviation Corrosion Control and Aircraft/Mil-Spec Paint and Finish experience.
- Experience with Cerakote Application
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Must be able to perform physical requirements of the job, with or without a reasonable accommodation, including, but not limited to, perceiving differences in wire cable colors, moving and/or lifting items such as ladders, tools, air tanks, test equipment and other objects weighing up to 100 pounds, working aloft; climbing ladders and poles
- Must be able to obtain a DOT physical and haul trailers to and from offsite locations
