Job Description
Virginia Western Community College is a two-year public institution of higher education operating under the Virginia Community College System, a statewide system of community colleges. The College operates under the policies established by the State Board for Community Colleges and the Virginia Western Community College Local Advisory Board.
Virginia Western is located on a 70-acre campus in southwest Roanoke, VA. The service region of the College includes Roanoke, Salem, Roanoke County, Craig County, Franklin County, and southern Botetourt County. The College was established in 1966 and has grown from an initial enrollment of 1,352 to its current annual enrollment of over 9,000 students in credit courses and more than 1,400 enrollments in fast-track workforce and continuing education courses.
Virginia Western Community College is accepting applications for an Administrative Assistant in the Educational Foundation. This is a restricted, 2-year position funded by the Educational Foundation and eligible for renewal. This position serves as the administrative office manager providing quality customer service to ensure the effective and efficient operation of fundraising. The position will report to the Coordinator of Philanthropy of the Virginia Western Community College Educational Foundation, and will support Office staff, organizing and coordinating office operations in order to provide a strong infrastructure for development and resource development. Performs a variety of clerical and technical duties assisting in the coordination of fundraising activities and event planning.
Special Assignments

May be required to perform other duties as assigned. May be required to assist the agency or state government generally in the event of an emergency declaration by the Governor.

KSA's/Required Qualifications
Demonstrated experience providing high-level administrative support, ensuring organizational effectiveness and professional communication. Experience in planning special events, maintaining office calendars, and providing front-office customer service. Must demonstrate proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, including Outlook, Word, and Excel, with the ability to complete mass mailings and professional correspondence.
Demonstrates exceptional interpersonal skills, as well as excellent written and oral communication skills. Ability to work independently and with accuracy, while balancing a multitude of tasks. Knowledge of presentation and website management software. Organized, detail oriented, and comfortable overseeing the day-to-day needs of an office setting. Prompt and reliable attendance is expected.
Additional Considerations
Experience with successfully executing communications to a Board of Directors and donors preferred. Certification as Microsoft Office Specialist or the equivalent preferred.
