Role and Responsibilities:
The Landscaping Crew Member will help with daily landscaping tasks on the base. Your job is to complete landscaping duties safely and efficiently under the guidance of your supervisor.



  • Work with a supportive team, primarily composed of individuals with disabilities.

  • Perform routine checks and maintenance on equipment at the end of each day.

  • Landscaping Tasks:

    • Trim hedges and remove weeds.

    • Maintain landscaping beds.

    • Mow, rake, edge, and hand-prune plants.

    • Spray lawns, shrubs, and trees.

    • Plant grass, flowers, trees, and shrubs.

    • Water lawns and shrubs.



  • Clean drainage ditches and culverts.

  • Safely operate machinery, including tractors with attachments (mowers, fertilizer spreaders, etc.), as directed.

  • Always wear the required safety gear and use safety equipment. Notify the Crew Leader about any unsafe areas.

  • Work with the Crew Leader to ensure all assigned areas are finished to the required standards.


Qualifications:



  • No Experience, No Problem


Preferred Skills:



  • Minimum of (1) One-year landscaping experience (Preferred)


Physical Demands:



  • Perform physically demanding tasks, including lifting, carrying, and moving heavy materials (often up to 50 pounds or more).

  • Work long hours outdoors, requiring stamina for activities such as digging, planting, and operating equipment.

  • Constantly move around job sites, including bending, kneeling, crouching, and standing for extended periods.

  • Operate landscaping machinery and tools, such as mowers, trimmers, blowers, and hand tools.

  • Maintain good hand-eye coordination and balance while performing tasks on uneven terrain.

  • Inspect work for quality and accuracy, requiring close visual attention.'

  • Reasonable accommodations can be provided


Environmental Demands:



  • Work outdoors in varying weather conditions, including heat, cold, rain, and direct sunlight.

  • Potential exposure to allergens such as pollen, dust, and insects.

  • Work near moving equipment and tools, requiring awareness of surroundings to ensure safety.

  • Exposure to loud noise from equipment and machinery.

  • Work in areas with dust, dirt, and debris, which may affect air quality.

  • May require early mornings, late evenings, or weekend work depending on project needs.
