Stony Brook University: Provost Office: College of Arts & Sciences: Psychology Location Stony Brook, NY Open Date Feb 28, 2025 Deadline Mar 31, 2025 at 11:59 PM Eastern Time Description The Department of Psychology at Stony Brook University (SBU) invites applications for a full-time Associate Director of the Leonard Krasner Psychological Center (KPC) at the rank of Clinical Assistant Professor, non-tenure track. This is a unique opportunity for someone interested in working in a clinic setting affiliated with a highly ranked clinical science doctoral program. In addition to clinic responsibilities, the position includes dedicated time (one day per week) for research and/or clinical practice opportunities. The KPC is the outpatient mental health facility affiliated with the highly ranked Ph.D. program in Clinical Psychological Science at SBU. It is also one of three clinical settings comprising the SBU Consortium Training Programs, namely the APA accredited doctoral internship, the doctoral externship, and the postdoctoral fellowship. At the KPC we provide evidence-based CBT-informed psychological services to the campus and Long Island communities for a wide range of psychological problems across the life span, including specialized programs for anxiety disorders, chronic/treatment-resistant depression, close relationships, ADHD, and wellness/resiliency. We are also developing new programs in the areas of trauma treatment and LGBTQ health. We provide faculty and trainees opportunities to become involved in psychological research with outpatient populations. The primary responsibilities of the Associate Director include assisting the KPC Director and clinical faculty at the KPC in (a) providing clinical supervision (assessment and intervention) to trainees from the SBU Consortium Training Programs and the Ph.D. program in clinical psychological science; (b) engaging in training/teaching, program development, and administrative responsibilities associated with running the SBU Consortium Training Programs; and (c) assisting with KPC clinic operations. We are particularly interested in a Ph.D. level clinical psychologist who comes from a clinical scientist or scientist-practitioner program, and whose training and clinical experience are consistent with the evidence-based practice in psychology approach to clinical decision making within the implementation of cognitive-behavioral treatment models, including third wave approaches. Experience in providing clinical supervision and interest in the integration of science-practice are highly desirable.
