The Intelligence Analyst (IA) is a critical part of the AGS Global Security team and is responsible for the research and collection of information from multiple sources, based on agreed requirements, and for processing this into timely, clear, accurate and actionable intelligence, threat assessments, management briefings, security alerts, country risk assessments, source reports, multi-media presentations, workshops, training, and other relevant security and awareness. The effect of which is to inform and enable business decisions regarding risk mitigation mechanisms and security controls, based on sound analysis and potential impact to the business. The focus of the IA role is to protect Alcon associates, property, products, intellectual property, reputation and patients globally from threats emanating from: the counterfeiting/diversion of Alcon products, attacks against travelling associates, impact upon our facilities from natural disasters, unscrupulous vendors/counterparties, 'insider' threats regarding fraud and corruption, and threats from extremism, extortion, blackmail, bribery, indiscriminate terrorism and other criminal activity. Other responsibilities include:
  • Employ a range of skills and techniques - including tasking external sources and agencies - to build a detailed intelligence picture regarding threats to Alcon.
  • Working on assigned priorities and to an agreed plan, manage the 'intelligence cycle' through the systematic collection, collation, evaluation, interpretation and analysis of information and process this into timely, accurate, and relevant intelligence.
  • Use internal and external systems and information (specialized software, internet, newsfeeds, social media monitoring, open-source research and other data sources), to monitor global risks that could have an adverse impact on business executives, personnel, travelers, assets, facilities or reputation.
  • Based upon timely and accurate intelligence, recommend options and courses of action.
  • Produce high quality threat assessments, security alerts, management briefings, country risk assessments, multi-media presentations and other relevant security and awareness products for dissemination to relevant audiences across Alcon.
  • Review and manage intelligence to ensure that efforts are focused and prioritized on an agreed upon plans that will lead to tangible operational outcomes; representing business value and return on investment.
  • Contribute to Global Security projects (physical/investigations/brand protection/travel and event security)
  • Responsible for data-entry and maintaining, reviewing and updating databases relating to Brand Protection investigations and their relationships through events and time (using 'i2' and 'analyst notebook' applications).
  • Develop and maintain excellent working and reciprocal relationships with peer professionals, law enforcement, intelligence and security agencies, regulatory authorities, customs organizations, commercial vendors and other relevant bodies.
Minimum Requirements:
  • Bachelor's Degree or Equivalent years of directly related experience (or high school+10yrs; Assoc.+6yrs; M.S.+0yrs)
  • The ability to fluently read, write, understand and communicate in English
  • 2 Years of Relevant Experience
Desired Requirements:
  • 3-5 years military/law enforcement/customs/security intelligence background
  • Outstanding written and verbal communications (i.e. report writing / presentations).
  • Strong practical working knowledge of ONTIC or similar applications required.
  • Strong subject matter expertise of issues related to country and travel risk, worldwide security environment, geopolitics, terrorism, crime, and civil unrest necessary.
  • People, influencing and change management experience essential
  • Multilingual proficiency is a plus.

  • Demonstrate expertise in research, analysis, assessment methods and techniques.
  • Employ a range of skills and techniques - including tasking external sources and agencies - to identify threats to Alcon.
  • Follow an agreed intelligence collection plan and priorities; collect information from multiple sources, collate, validate and document material, evaluate the reliability, accuracy and credibility of sources and interpret, analyze and assess intelligence.
  • Produce impeccable, succinct and relevant written and verbal intelligence reports, threat assessments and briefings.
  • Produce operating procedures and working practices documentation for the function.
  • Recommend courses of action for the planning, direction and prioritization of security controls and intelligence development operations.
  • Follow internal governance protocols and international legal requirements.
  • Manage a structure for reporting security alerts.
  • Develop and maintain excellent collaboration with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Display self-motivation, creativity, curiosity, good organization, lateral thinking and willingness to challenge appropriately.
  • High learning agility and business savvy.
  • Work to agreed KPIs and measurement metrics.
