Manager, Clinical Social Work

This role will support our Community Network Sites in collaboration with our Duarte Medical Center campus. This position requires travel to support community network sites.

This role oversees clinical social work staff, managing task assignments, modifying workloads, coaching, training, and contributing to performance evaluations and competency assessments. The manager assists in resolving issues and escalates complex problems to the director as needed. A key responsibility is ensuring the effective delivery of psychosocial care, particularly in helping patients and families understand and adjust to illness. This position conducts age-appropriate assessments and interventions to address patient and family needs. Additionally, the manager participates in policy development and revisions and collaborates with physicians, colleagues, and supervisors to foster teamwork and ensure high-quality, efficient patient care.

As a successful candidate, you will:

  • Assist with the daily supervision of clinical social workers and staff, as needed.
  • In consultation with the Director of Clinical Social Work, assume responsibility for submission of monthly reports and departmental activity.
  • Works closely with the Director and staff to maintain a staff leadership culture within the Division, utilizing teams that are goal-directed to develop improved processes.
  • Identify work group leaders and assignments, with expectations that each staff member will continue to provide quality patient coverage, as well as assuming leadership roles.
  • Direct staff and group leaders to work closely with the Patient and Family Support Services Team to incorporate existing and new program development to ensure that patients and their family members experience optimal care while receiving treatment at the City of Hope.
  • Assist CSW leads with strategic planning that is aligned with DSCM and COH strategic plan.
  • Facilitates high performance team communications on a quarterly basis.
  • Develop and maintain close working relationships with medical staff, administration, other departments, and consumers.
  • Participate actively on various medical staff, departmental committees, as designated by the Director.
  • Participate in quality studies through data collection. Make recommendations and take actions to improve structure, system or outcomes.
  • Maintain timely written and verbal communication with staff, regarding policies, events and changes.
  • Project patient care program needs relative to the hospital's strategic planning endeavors.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned or requested.

Qualifications

Your qualifications should include:

  • Master's degree from a program accredited by the Council on Social Work Education.
  • Minimum of 2 years of post-Masters experience working as a clinical social worker within a hospital setting. Working knowledge of current, independent clinical psychosocial screening, assessment and counseling. Program development or experience with leading a team.
  • Possession of a Clinical Social Work License (LCSW) issued by the California Board of Behavioral Sciences.
  • Oncology Social Work Certification, Advanced Certified Hospice and Palliative Social Work, preferred.
