DESCRIPTION OF WORK

As a Social Services Aide 1, you will provide a variety of services and support to assist with ensuring functional operations within the Washington County Children and Youth Department. Primary responsibilities include scheduling, planning, and providing transportation for children, parents and/or families to court hearings, parenting/placements and appointments. You will also participate in the scheduling, planning, and supervision of parent/child visitation. General assistance and support will be provided to agency casework staff in the delivery of mandated, court ordered, and/or planned services, in addition to tending to general case record and report maintenance. The position will automatically progress to a County Social Services Aide 2 after completion of one year of service. As a County Social Services Aide 2, the hourly rate increases to $19.47 per hour or $37,966.50 per year.

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

  • Full-time employment
  • Work hours are 8:30 AM to 4:30 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

  • Graduation from high school; or
  • Any equivalent combination of training and experience.

Other Requirements:

  • You must be able to perform essential job functions.

Legal Requirements:

  • You must pass a background investigation.
  • A conditional offer of employment will require a medical examination and drug screening.
  • This position falls under the provisions of the Child Protective Services Law.
    • Under the Law, a conditional offer of employment will require submission and approval of satisfactory criminal history reports including, but not limited to, PA State Police clearance, PA Child Abuse history clearance, and FBI Fingerprint clearance.
