Maintenance Technician

Location: Farr West, Utah

Shift: Mondays thru Thursdays 6:00am-4:30pm

Job Summary:

Install, maintain, and repair various mechanical and electrical components, equipment, and systems to ensure that buildings, equipment, and machines are operationally ready and functioning efficiently.

Essential Functions:

  • Installs new machinery, equipment, mechanical and electrical systems.
  • Assists with the design and installation of new machinery and equipment, along with the associated electrical and mechanical systems.
  • Installs new electrical components such as fixtures, motors, panels, transformers, and other equipment, to include running conduit and pulling wire.
  • Keeps machinery, equipment, mechanical and electrical equipment in good repair and operating condition by performing Preventative Maintenance and servicing as required.
  • Responds to and addresses Leading2Lean dispatches.
  • Diagnoses problems in machinery, equipment, mechanical and electrical systems or equipment and makes repairs.
  • Troubleshoot electrical equipment down to board level
  • Perform any other maintenance tasks as required by supervisor

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Ability to read and understand blueprints.
  • Ability to use manuals, schematics, drawings, and other technical data sheets to trouble shoot electrical equipment.
  • Ability to bend and install conduit, pull wire, and make wire termination connections.
  • Good understanding of electrical systems, controls, & instrumentation; and ability to troubleshoot electrical equipment down to the board level.
  • Basic understanding of mechanical systems and ability to perform basic maintenance and repairs.
  • Basic knowledge of state and local electrical laws and national electric code.
  • Ability to understand and follow directions and work with little to no supervision.
  • Ability to solve problems and find solutions independently.
  • Ability to communicate clearly and in a professional manner
  • Ability to work well with other team members and to establish good working relationships other members of the organization.
  • Responds to and addresses Leading2Lean dispatches.
  • Basic Computer Skills

Essential Physical Functions:

Work in shop environment. Will require some bending, stretching and reaching in various positions. Must be able to work odd hours/schedule. Must be able to lift 50 pounds. Requires eye-hand coordination and manual dexterity sufficient to operate a keyboard, photocopier, telephone, calculator and other office equipment, and machinery, i.e. forklift, truck, etc. Requires normal range of hearing and vision to operate machinery, and to record, prepare, and communicate appropriate reports. Will require steel toe shoes/boots. Requires working under stressful conditions. May require working overtime.

Minimum Requirements:

Six years related experience in commercial and industrial applications; electrical apprentice with four years electrical experience in commercial and industrial applications; or technical or vocational education with four years of experience with electrical, electronics, instrumentation, and/or controls applications. Additional consideration for an electrical license, mechanical experience, and knowledge and/or associated training and education.

Safety Requirements:

  • Must not pose a direct threat or significant risk of substantial harm to the safety or health of himself/herself or others
  • Must be committed to a high standard of safety and be willing and able to comply with all safety laws and all the employer's safety policies and rules and must be willing to report safety violations and potential safety violations to appropriate supervisory or management personnel.

Equipment Used (but not limited to):

Multi Voltmeter, Forklifts, Company trucks, Office equipment, i.e., telephone, fax, copier etc. Various Hand Tools and Power Hand Tools.

Technician is expected to have the basic tools necessary to perform his work; the following tooling, at minimum, may be required:

1. 3/8 drive sockets s.a.e. & metric 12. open/box end wrenches

2. allen wrenches 13. lineman pliers

3. multi voltmeter 14. stripper/crimper pliers

4. side cutters 15. needle nose pliers

5. vise grip pliers 16. adjustable wrench

6. channel locks 17. hammer

7. pipe wrench 18. tape measure

8. safety equipment 19. hack saw

9. torpedo level 20. phase indicator 110 volt

10. flashlight 21. drill motor

11. screwdrivers standard/phillips

Availability:

  • Must maintain regular and acceptable attendance at such level as is determined in the employer's sole discretion.
  • Must be available and willing to work overtime as the employer determines is necessary or desirable to meet its business needs.

Travel:

Must be available and willing to travel as the employer determines is necessary or desirable to meet its business needs.

Working Conditions:

Working conditions may vary according to weather. Requires ability to work in heat and cold. Noisy shop environment. May be required to work overtime.
