Geosyntec has an exciting opportunity for an Early-Career Environmental Engineer or Scientist as part of our Energy Transition and Industrial Capital Projects practice in our Baton Rouge, LA office. You will have the opportunity to apply your educational background to real-world situations while also learning the business skills needed for a successful consulting career. You will interact with a multi-disciplinary team of professionals throughout the U.S. and will apply academic and practical knowledge to environmental permitting & planning; process design; and environmental, health, and safety regulatory compliance for clients primarily within the energy and advanced manufacturing markets.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

    Environmental due diligence, regulatory compliance services, and permitting;
  • Site development services, planning, and permitting of capital projects;
  • Data analysis, including preparing maps, tables, and figures;
  • Fieldwork such as soil, surface water, and groundwater sampling; construction stormwater inspections; or site reconnaissance; and
  • Preparation of technical reports, letters, memoranda, plans, specifications, agency letters, and proposals.


Education and Licensure

  • Bachelor's degree in environmental engineering, civil engineering, chemical engineering, or environmental sciences. (required)
  • Advanced degree in the same. (preferred)


Skills, Experience and Qualifications

  • At least 2 years of related experience working in a consulting, manufacturing, or industrial environment, with a working knowledge of industrial processes and their impacts to the environment. (preferred)
  • Familiarity with Federal and State environmental regulations and understanding of environmental permit application processes. (preferred)
  • Experience working within multi-disciplinary project teams. (preferred)
  • Ability to work independently from remote client locations. (required)
  • Ability to succeed in a fast-paced consulting environment, handling multiple project assignments, meeting strict deadlines, and traveling to client facilities as needed. (required)
  • Up to 50% field work and overnight travel. (required)
  • Health & Safety training, medical monitoring, and client-driven drug and background testing. (required)
  • Valid U.S. driver's license and a satisfactory driving record for business travel. (required)
