Department Information

The Student and Campus Event Centers at Georgia Institute of Technology are dedicated to enhancing the student experience by providing a wide range of programs, services, and facilities. Our mission is to foster a vibrant campus community through the coordination and support of student activities, leadership development, and event management.

We oversee the co-curricular and extra-curricular activities for all students and other campus constituents, managing the operation of programming spaces and advising programming board committees. Our team interacts with students, student leaders, student employees, registered student organizations, fellow staff members across campus, faculty, and external clients in the Atlanta community.
Key components of our department include:

  • Student Leadership Development: We advise students in planning large-scale social, educational, traditions, and stress-relief programs through the student event programming board.
    Event Management: Our staff advises student event planners through one-on-one meetings, committee meetings, and on-site event execution.
  • Collaboration and Engagement: We promote interactions between faculty and students, foster collaboration among students, enhance campus and civic engagement, and ease both the academic and social transition to college.
  • Our department is committed to creating an inclusive and engaging environment that supports the holistic development of our students. We strive to provide opportunities for students to connect with one another, their campus, and the broader community.
Job Summary

The Utility II role will provide support and coordinate daily operations and housekeeping within the facility to ensure the smooth execution of activities across all spaces. As the primary point of contact, the Utility Worker is responsible for delivering exceptional customer service, maintaining cleanliness standards, and upholding safety protocols. This position will interact on a regular basis with students, faculty, staff, clients, and guests.

Responsibilities

Job Duty 1 -
Serve as the on-site point of contact for building and operational needs, including coordinating building access with campus partners responsible for facility maintenance and clients utilizing rental space.

Job Duty 2 -
Responsible for opening and closing the facility.

Job Duty 3 -
Document and report maintenance-related facility issues, and act as the on-site contact for contractors and campus facilities technicians.

Job Duty 4 -
Perform routine and detailed housekeeping services both inside and outside the facility, utilizing specialized tools and equipment. Tasks include emptying trash receptacles, dusting, spot cleaning.

Job Duty 5 -
cleaning, and disinfecting restrooms, medical and food service areas, inventory management, mopping, laundry services, snow/ice, and leaf removal around entrances, sweeping, and vacuuming.

Job Duty 6 -
Set up and break down tables, chairs, stages, audio-visual equipment, etc., as required for approved events.

Job Duty 7 -
Ensure timely provision of customer requests for equipment and room set-ups, including additional equipment, event alterations, audio/visual assistance, etc.

Required Qualifications

High School Diploma/GED or Vocational school Diploma
3-5 of job-related experience
Ability to work flexible schedule based on event schedule

Salary range: $17.64- $20.91 (commensurate with experience)
