The Patient Support Services Supervisor 1 in the Radiology Department at UC Davis Health oversees daily operations, managing a team of reading room and film library assistants to ensure seamless 24/7 imaging services. This role includes staff supervision, scheduling, training, and performance evaluation, along with technical management of digital imaging systems (PACS, EMR) and exceptional customer service to address complaints and resolve conflicts.

The position serves as a key liaison between clinical staff, physicians, and administrative personnel. The role involves supervisory, technical, clerical, and customer service responsibilities to ensure smooth departmental operations and exemplary patient care.

Minimum Qualifications

  • American Heart Association (AHA) Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification or UC Davis Health CPR
  • Bachelor's degree in related area and / or equivalent experience / training
  • Experience within healthcare or medical office setting.
  • Leadership and Supervisory Skills
  • Personnel management skills, including recruiting, interviewing, training, and developing staff.
  • Ability to establish performance standards, coach employees, administer corrective actions, and foster team building.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access, Outlook).
  • Oral and written communication skills to convey clear instructions, engage in problem-solving, and collaborate effectively across teams.
  • Ability to address and de-escalate challenging interactions with patients or staff.
  • Interpersonal skills to establish a welcoming, compassionate environment for customers and coworkers.

  • Ability to perform basic arithmetic operations and statistical calculations.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in leadership roles within healthcare or medical office setting.
  • Experience managing radiology digital images.
  • Advanced knowledge of EMR systems for entering and retrieving patient data, including demographic information, order status, and productivity reports.
  • Strong planning and organizational abilities to manage complex projects, events, and deadlines
  • Analytical skills to interpret data, generate reports, and maintain accurate records.
  • Familiarity with hospital policies, departmental procedures, medical terminology, and patient confidentiality standards.
  • Understanding of UCDH rights regarding information requests and patient rights.

Department Overview

The UC Davis Department of Radiology performs imaging and therapeutic procedures for patients throughout Northern California. Our radiological services are timely, cost-effective, appropriate and of the highest quality. Routine and specialized imaging studies, visceral and vascular intervention procedures, and contemporary neuro-interventional services are available.

Work Environment

UC Davis is a smoke and tobacco free campus effective January 1, 2014.
