Overview
The Juvenile Justice Director is a member of the Adolescent Services Unit (ASU) within the Family Services Division of DCF. The JJ Director plans and implements juvenile justice system improvement and practice throughout the state. The JJ Director facilitates monthly Youth Justice Work Group meetings which is comprised of Family Services staff to create policy, analyze data, share information with key stakeholders and plan for the delivery of statewide youth justice practice. This role has responsibility to manage and support the Balanced and Restorative Justice Programs (11 Contracts), and the Orbis contract for YASI CaseWorks. This position, Juvenile Justice Director (Job Requisition #52201), is open to all State employees and external applicants. AHS BACKGROUND CHECKS: Candidates must pass any level of background investigation applicable to the position. In accordance with AHS Policy 4.02, Hiring Standards, Vermont and/or national criminal record checks, as well as DMV and adult and child abuse registry checks, as appropriate to the position under recruitment, will be conducted on candidates, with the exception of those who are current classified state employees seeking transfer, promotion or demotion into an AHS classified position or are persons exercising re-employment (RIF) rights. Environmental Factors
Duties are performed in a variety of office and field settings. Private means of transportation must be available for necessary travel. Attendance at a variety of meetings is required, involving state, federal, private agencies or interest and advocacy groups, sometimes during evening and weekend hours. Strong, emotional and conflicting opinions may be encountered which must be constructively channeled. Tact and perseverance are necessary incumbent traits. Minimum Qualifications
Master's degree, preferably in a Human Services related field, and three years' experience in youth justice, social work, teaching or criminal justice. OR Bachelor's Degree preferably in human services related field and five years' experience in youth justice, social work, teaching or criminal justice. Total Compensation
