MaineHealth Orthopedics and Sports Medicine in South Portland, Maine is recruiting an APP (Advanced Practice Provider)to join our fast-paced Orthopedic Surgery and Sports Medicine team.Under physician supervision, the successful candidate will provide medical care through evaluation and treatment of same day, next day and acute injuryoutpatients. In the ambulatory setting, this positionwill support the daily needs of the practice as it relates to patient care and immediate access including but not limited to; triage of acute orthopedic referrals and calls, providing access to existing/established patients, same day patients, and supplemental coverage for existing clinical care teams through the use of in-person visits and tele-health options. This position will also provide care for acute injury patient/athletes referred through our Athletic Trainers located in community outreach locations. The successful candidate will have the ability to work closely and as a liaison with surgical and non-surgical physicians in the management of existing patients for continuity of care. Orthopedic, Sports Medicine, fracture care experience, and/or Urgent Care experience in Orthopedics is preferred. These duties are performed in accordance with established standards and practices as defined by Maine Medical Center, the State of Maine, and the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA).
Participates in the Sports Surgery & Sports Medicine office call rotation.

Schedule: Monday - Friday, 5 days a week/day shift in the ambulatory clinic.

Potential additional coverage on an intermittent, as needed basis in the Operating Room may be possible.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Education: Bachelor's degree and successful completion of accredited Physician Assistant/Nurse Practitioner program.
  • Current BLS certification required.
  • Knowledge of advanced practice of nursing, professional nursing theory, practices and regulations related to evaluating and providing patient care, and professional ethics related to the delivery of nursing care.
  • Knowledge of patient assessment techniques including medical histories, performing evaluations and wellness diagnosis
  • Ability to educate patients, families, and staff in user-friendly manner.
  • Strong computer skills with skill in using computerized health information management system.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal and customer service skills with the ability to establish/maintain effective working relationships with patients, clinical staff and the public.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality.
