Description The EHS Manager is responsible for ensuring that Liberty Paper meets environmental, health, and safety compliance by strategically managing and developing systems, processes, and procedures to promote a positive safety culture, resulting in an injury-free and healthy workplace. Key responsibilities include leading incident investigations, environmental and product stewardship, sustainability, security, and driving continuous improvement in EHS practices. Thisfull-timeposition reports directly to the Senior Manager, Technical Services and is located at Liberty Paper's manufacturing plant in Becker, MN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Strategically manages and coordinates multiple aspects of the Environmental, Health and Safety programs to be compliant with regulations and company standards while maintaining the emphasis on safety and driving a culture of best practice standardization.
- Develop effective communicationprocesses to make safety priorities and performance visible.
- Lead robust incident investigations with effective problem solving and diligent follow up.
- Assign and track all EHS activities, corrective action plans, and tasks to completion and update as needed. Maintains appropriate documentation.
- Assess programs against performance standards and develop corrective action plans to close gaps. Ensure that all necessary reports and other requirements are submitted to regulatory agencies and other government bodies as required.
- Recognize, evaluate, recommend, and implement practices and procedures to assure awareness of and compliance with EHS requirements of the organization.
- Review capital projects for safety and environmental impacts and permitting requirements; provide management with details of permit requirements and timelines.
- Lead deliberate improvement efforts to elevate/optimize EHS performance by setting EHS goals, monitoring, and reporting on performance. Direct audits and reviews of programs to identify and control significant loss producing exposure.
- Lead initiatives to strategically plan, communicate, deliver and track required EHS employee training. Ensure that training is completed with all team members, including newly on-boarded employees.
- Responsible for site-wide EHS communications; utilize resources from EHS function, participate in Area EHS calls and communicate/distribute materials to site leaders; prepare and provide info at site-wide meetings. Provide direction on EHS Programs, Policies, and Expectations to all site personnel.
- Collaborate with LDI EHS Director and EHS peers across all LDI business units on EHS programs and initiatives.
- Maintain knowledge on all existing and proposed changes in State and locate EHS regulations, advising site leadership on potential impacts.
- Respond to alleged violations of rules, regulations, policies, procedures, by evaluating and recommending the initiation of investigative procedures; Drive corrective actions and key projects for any identified SH&E concerns. Ensure proper reporting of violations or potential violations to duly authorized enforcement agencies.
- Serve as the point of contact for all scheduled agency inspections. Actively participate in internal and external discussions and meetings, with auditors, agencies, consultants & EHS corporate staff. Participate in corporate sponsored audits and conduct compliance reviews with facility management.
- Contribute to the implementation and compliance of ISO 14001, ISO 9001 and OSHA "Star Program"
- Provide strong leadership to team members by establishing clear communication of expectations, providing coaching, direction, mentorship and guidance
- Occasional travel required
REQUIREDEDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS
- Bachelors degree in business, engineering or an environmental science or equivalent relevant work experience
- 2+ years of experience as manager of complex EHS performance, compliance permitting, regulatory issues, projects, and programs.
- 3+ years of supervisory experience in planning directing, organizing, and leading the work of EHS professionals and hourly support staff
PREFERRED EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS
- EHS experience in a manufacturing industry preferred
- Excellent communication skills (listening, writing, and speaking, presentation/delivery) required.

COMPENSATION & BENEFITS The starting base salary range for this position is $80,000 - $100,000per year plus eligibility in annual bonus program. The compensation posted is the anticipated pay for the position at the time of the posting. We may pay above or below posted amount based on several factors, including, but not limited to education and/or certifications, skills, experience, or work location. Some positions may qualify for additional compensation in the form of bonuses or deferred compensation options.
