Department: Group Sales

Reports To: Vice President, Food & Beverage

Summary:

The Group Sales Manager is responsible for developing and executing strategies to attract and secure group business for Schweitzer. This includes cultivating relationships with tour operators, meeting planners, corporations, associations, and other organizations to generate revenue through group bookings for lodging, lift tickets, lessons, rentals, dining, and other resort amenities. This role requires a driven, results-oriented individual with excellent communication and interpersonal skills, and a passion for the ski industry.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Sales & Revenue Generation:
    • Proactively identify and solicit new group business opportunities through various channels, including cold calling, networking, attending industry events, and online research.
    • Manage and grow existing group accounts, fostering long-term relationships and repeat business.
    • Develop and present compelling proposals and presentations tailored to the specific needs of each group.
    • Negotiate contracts and pricing within established guidelines, maximizing revenue and profitability.
    • Achieve or exceed annual group sales targets.
    • Accurately forecast group revenue and provide regular updates to the Vice president of F&B.
  • Relationship Management:
    • Build and maintain strong relationships with key decision-makers at tour operators, meeting planners, corporations, associations, and other potential group clients.
    • Represent Schweitzer at industry conferences, trade shows, and networking events.
    • Provide exceptional customer service to group clients, ensuring a seamless and memorable experience.
  • Marketing & Promotion:
    • Collaborate with the marketing team to develop targeted marketing campaigns to attract group business.
    • Identify and evaluate potential marketing channels and partnerships to reach target audiences.
    • Stay informed about industry trends and competitor offerings.
  • Administration & Reporting:
    • Develop annual strategic plan for each market segment (SMERF, corporate, weddings) by region.
    • Create the annual operating budget, coordinating with F&B and lodging to achieve quarterly revenue objectives.
    • Drive sales team excellence through hiring, coaching, and motivation.
    • Maintain accurate records of group bookings, contracts, and sales activities using CRM software.
    • Prepare regular reports on group sales quarterly performance, including revenue, lead generation, and market analysis.
    • Manage group sales budgets and expenses.
  • Operations & Coordination:
    • Work closely with other departments within the resort (e.g., lodging, food & beverage, ski school) to ensure smooth execution of group events and bookings.
    • Coordinate group logistics, including lodging arrangements, lift tickets, lessons, rentals, and dining reservations.
    • Communicate effectively with internal teams to ensure all group requirements are met.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Hospitality Management, or a related field preferred.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in group sales, preferably in the hospitality or tourism industry. Experience in the ski industry is a plus.
  • Proven track record of achieving sales targets and building strong client relationships.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and presentation skills.
  • Strong negotiation and closing skills.
  • Proficiency in CRM software and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills.
  • Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends, as needed.
  • Flexibility to travel for work up to a week duration.
  • Passion for skiing and the mountain lifestyle.
