Head of Cyber, Tech, and Media Claims

The Opportunity: This opportunity is to lead QBE's growing Cyber, Tech E&O and Media Liability claims team. This role will provide strategic leadership of a high performing team of Claim Professionals handling claims arising out of our Cyber/Tech and Media lines of business, in addition to overseeing expected growth. This role will be responsible for developing strong internal and external relationships, fostering a team-oriented and high performing culture and collaboration with the business leaders and other internal stakeholders. We are looking for a strong leader who can build and lead a team commensurate with our expected growth in this line of business.

  • Location: Chicago, IL or New York City, NY

  • Work Arrangement: Hybrid (2-3 days a week in the office)

  • The salary range for this role is between $181,000 - $309,000 depending on location and experience

Your new role

  • Provide technical direction, leadership, and coaching to a team of high performing claim professionals, including senior technical leaders

  • Analyze claim data to provide insight into the performance of the Cyber and Media lines of businesses, including Loss Ratio and other indicators of profitability

  • Discuss and present claim performance to senior level executives including underwriting (both global and North America), actuarial, Risk and CUO

  • Monitor industry trends and recommend strategies to address emerging issues

  • Assess present and future resource needs for employees and provide the leadership, mentoring and guidance necessary to build and sustain a high performing workforce

  • Cultivate positive relationships with internal and external customers to accomplish organizational goals

Required Education

  • Bachelor's Degree or equivalent combination of education and work experience

Required Experience

  • 10+ years relevant experience including managing a claims team

Preferred Competencies/Skills

  • JD Preferred

  • Strong leadership and communication skills

  • Financial and business acumen regarding insurance company finance and profitability

Compensation Package: The salary range for this role is provided above. This is the national range for location(s) listed. The salary offer will be decided based on the role's complexity, its location, and the candidate's professional background, including their education and experience. Beyond the base salary, regular full-time and part-time employees will also be eligible for QBE's annual discretionary bonus plan based on business and individual performance.We encourage all candidates to apply, even if their salary expectations fall outside of this range, as we are committed to finding the right fit for our team.
